Yeah the standard PlayCD looks extremely ugly today, it works well for what it was designed but the entire GUI should be modernized to the current OS4 standard, as new intregrated player i don't understand why it wasn't used the newest PlayCDDA instead ...
It was written by salass00 and prove to be stable, salass00 become an official member of the OS4 team developers long ago so i presume there will be no problem in integrate his works in the official OS :-)

Starting from his version i think someone can add a sort of skinning support that any Amiga's artists will appreciate ;)

@tommysammy

I don't think you should bother with redesigning PlayCD. The program is quite useless today because it requires CD-ROM drives that connect audio output to your soundcard, i.e. components that are no longer produced. People use PlayCDDA as a replacement. As for Clock, there is a modern skinnable replacement available from A-EON as part of the Enhancer suite.

Maybe it made a bit more sense when TommySammy posted it ... 5 years ago? ;-)

PlayCD was enhanced in 2010 to support output to AHI.

It was a rudimentary change made necessary because back then, many CD/DVD drives were being built and sold without any analogue output. The current version is dated 2014.

The original code is awful and no one in his/her right mind would use it as the basis for a new release. It would be far better to start from scratch with a proper GUI.

Strangely, do like and use both even today, and yes, thanks, clean redesign would be great. Especially if submitted as OS baseline and NOT as Enhancer feat.
