Hi Hypex,

The onboard SBx00 Azalia (Intel HD) sound chip works without any problems with the RC3 on my X1000.

Cheers,

Then I don't know what it is. But I'm using 5.6.0 now with Ubuntu. It detects the sound chip but no sound is coming out. Thought it may be the Rhythm Box thing as PPC tends to be buggy with missing codecs or crashes. But it seemed to be playing an mp3 or was thinking it was. But the Sound app produced nothing when testing.

I'm now testing RC4 ahead of time. I thought I had installed it but it had disappeared. Then when I went to boot it I was still running an older kernel! Turns out I must have picked the wrong menu item. ;-)

The sound is working on the 5.16 RC4 now. So it seems the sound has temporary glitches. Last night Ubuntu played audio.

I wonder if it's because I turned on my speakers after booting? Tonight I had them off. But other times I had them on which may disrupt the driver. Though it doesn't make sense that an amp connected to the sound output would kill the sound codec at boot up.

Tested RC5 and RC6 as fine. At first had a problem with archive. Then found extracting to /tmp failed as I had no space. :-)

Hi All,

I released the RC7 of kernel 5.16 for testing today.

New:
Download: linux-image-5.16-rc7-X1000_X5000.tar.gz

BTW, I compilied the new SuperTux 0.6.3 last week.

Download: supertux-0.6.3-linux-glibc2.23-ppc.tar.gz

You can start it with ./run_game.sh. It works on ubuntu MATE 16.04.7, Void PPC, MintPPC, and on Fienix.

You can also use OpenGL as renderer.

Please replace sdl with opengl20 in the file run_game.sh.

Code: Select all

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=./bin/
bin/supertux2 --datadir ./data/ --renderer opengl20
Image

I wish you a Happy New Year 2022! :-)

Cheers,
Christian
