There are many new updates for Fienix available! :-)
  • Mesa 19.1.6
  • LLVM 8.0.1
  • MATE 1.22.1
and many more. ;-)
Casey Cullen wrote:There have been several upgrades to Fienix, including to MATE 1.22. However, it seems there is a problem with MATE-Terminal. It launches and immediately quits but I cannot seem to get an error. Please confirm if you have this issue. If you have a basic Debian sid installation, please let me know if you have this issue with that installation. You may install PangoTerm in the meantime.

@Casey Cullen: The MATE-Terminal works without any problems. (see screenshot)

The X5000 Fienix image works much better on my X1000 than the X1000 specific image with the 4.20, 5.4 rc2 and the 5.4 rc5
zImages.
I see no differences between 5.4 rc2 and rc5.

I would like to see Midnight Commander available. 8-)

Hi All,

I successfully tested Fienix on a X5000/40 with a Radeon HD6970 (CAYMAN) today. :-)

Fienix works really well on a X5000/40. It's faster than ubuntu MATE 16.04.6 LTS PowerPC. I would recommend you to use Fienix instead of ubuntu MATE 16.04.6.

Screenshots:

Fienix PowerPC on a X5000/40 with a Radeon HD6970:

For comparison Fienix PowerPC on a X1000 with a Radeon HD6870:

The X5000/40 with a Radeon HD6970 is definitely faster than a X1000 with a Radeon HD6870. I tested the performance with the GPU Drawing benchmark, with Glxgears, with Quake-HD-Redux and with SuperTuxKart.

Cheers,
Christian
