CFE firmware does not recognise USB devices on power-up unless they are connected to the first USB port which is reserved for the keyboard. Unless you have a USB hub connected to the first port which allows you to connect both the keyboard and USB disk, you will need to insert the USB disk AFTER you have entered CFE.

I have 2 front usb ports that work with usb sticks & had a feeling that was the problem, may need to buy a cheap hub.
When the x1000 first started beta testing, some of the back usb ports didn't work, Steven got them working so I will
check them all to see if there is another "magic" port, never know :-)
My keyboard is sitting in the first usb port on the back.
When cfe is loadet my first usb port on the front can recognize my usb disk but not before the keyboard is loadet.

Sundown,

Please note: Hardware 3D acceleration doesn't work with your XFX R9 270. That means, videos and 3D acceleration (desktop and games) are slower with your graphics card on Fienix. Hardware 3D acceleration works only with RadeonHD 4xxx, 5xxx, and 6xxx graphics cards.

Cheers,
Christian

I'm well aware of the limitations of usb & CFE. Current gfx card is a 4850, which you indicated will do 3d.
The Fienix stick has vmlinux-4.20 & zImage-4.20, I'm assuming the vmlinux is the unarchived kernel?
Is the -z option only for the zImage kernel? Was also wondering if the Fienix.image ISO can be burned to a CD,
may try that just for kicks

Thanks for the help guys

Yes, that's correct.

Yes, that's right.

It's not possible.

Ok, dd'ed the Fienix stick to a hard drive, the "z" kernel to my CF card & it boots. Would still like to see the usb stick boot though.
I ran the gears demo to check 3d & only got 60fps, so not working with my 4850 gfx card, any ideas?

Could you please post the output of vblank_mode=0 glxgears?

Thanks

Ran glxgears first with no options, ~60fps.
Second run was vblank_mode=0 glxgears, ~1500fps.

Reading up on the vblank_mode, default would be 60, so guessing 3d is working.

It looks good. Please post the output of glxinfo | grep -i opengl.

Thanks

Internet isn't working, have an rtl8169 card that works with Mate 16.04, need to figure that out before Fienix is useful.
I was lucky to find a post that gave the root permission password (rootAdminPW) to even try to edit things.
Also, like another user, Fienix boots up without the home icon & nothing works, was wondering if I should try another
kernel, seems I have 4.20.16 installed now.
