I have tested using HardInfo with the following results:

Processor PowerPC PA6T, altivec supported (1800.00MHz)
Memory 4010MB (285MB used)
Operating System Ubuntu Xenial Xerus (development branch)

4.6.0rc2 4.6.0rc3
CPU Blowfish 58.867 58.975
CPU CryptoHash 32.765 32.692
CPU Fibonacci 14.914 15.186
CPU N-Queens 24.063 24.053
FPU FFT 17.995 18.039
FPU Raytracing 38.167 38.051

There is little difference in timings.

Hi Nigel,

Many many thanks for testing the RC3 and thanks a lot for the benchmark results. :-) :-)

Which graphics card is installed in your AmigaONE X1000?

@All

Could you please test the RC3 with a Radeon HD7000 series or newer?

For me it is very important that the cross compiled RC3 works with Radeon HD 7xxx and newer.

Thanks in advance,

Christian

I was a First Contact buyer and still have the original graphics card that Amigakit fitted:
Radeon HD4650, RV730 Pro

Thank you for your answer. It's good to know that the HD4650 works with the RC3.

Would you mind testing the hardware 3D acceleration with the RC2 and RC3?

You can test it with vblank_mode=0 glxgears. I'd like to know how big is the difference between a native and a cross compiled kernel.

Thanks a lot! The cross compiled RC3 isn't as fast as the RC2.

Hi All,

I am looking for someone who can test the cross compiled RC3 of kernel 4.6 with a Radeon HD7xxx or newer. I cross compiled this kernel on a x86_64 machine and I am not sure if the integrated firmwares work with some Radeon HD7XXX or newer graphics cards.
Could you please test the RC3 with your Radeon HD7XXX or newer?

Thanks in advance,

Christian

Hi Christian!

Using Asus R7 250X GPU (came installed with AmigaKit order) Testing kernel 4.6 rc3

Well I started with Mate 16.04. Booting up it starts out a hot mess with 12 or so lines of "irq parse" "failed with rc=-22" then the normal expected boot up. Youtube Browser for SMTube no video. Maybe an install of Mate with the GPU installed could fix that. YouTube video play back is exactly what I described but this time in unexpanded Firefox screen no fullscreen. Picture frozen and pixeling. SuperTuxKart is a no go as well.
Good news the 4.6 rc3 loads up Mate and restart works as well. My next move is to test Ubuntu 12.04.05 LTS DVD, I am too curious. No go as well. DVD stops loading with (initramfs) mount: ... aufs mount fail. Kind of expected something like that.
Ubuntu 12.04.05 LTS
Ugly. Booted up as Mate did. Login and all were normal. Both desktop pictures were more lovely. 12.04 glxgears dropped significantly to 517 frames in 5.0 seconds = 103.295 FPS. This is the same as Mate with this kernel. Pointer ghosted and was unstable while moving during glxgear test. Firefox - YouTube music but no video at all.
Notably in both there is a drop in overall speed and performance. SuperTuxKart takes too long to load. Both otherwise boots up to login and presents the desktop fine. Shutdown and Restart performs as it should.
Going back to 6670 just for tonight. I think my Mate install is messed up (my fault). I'll be ready for more testing requests. My Asus GPU is not too far away.

Cheers!!

Hi John,

Fantastic test report. Well done! I appreciate it very much. Radeon HD7xxx and newer don't support hardware 3D acceleration. Therefore SuperTuxKart, GLXgears, and YouTube have problems with these new graphics cards.

For me is important that your installed ubuntu MATE 16.04 and Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS boot. The A-EON Live Remix DVD doesn't boot with the normal kernels. You need a special kernel to boot a live DVD. I think you can't boot the live DVD with the stable longterm kernel 4.1 either.

Cheers,

Christian

Good Morning,

So, yes they did boot up nicely and the restart and shutdown worked with no system hang. Unfortunately Kernel 4.0.7 thru 4.1 will not work ( for sure ) with the DVD, of course, 4.6 rc3. My installs did not like me going back to the 6670 and the 4.1 kernel. Getting morning started to go make a living. More tweaking on the way. :)

Cheers!!
