I think there is something wrong with the USB flash drive. Would you mind coping the NI img to another USB flash drive?

Hi Xeno,
Taken your advice and did another dd for the 8GB stick. Took around 48 minutes!

What about copying the stick content to a HDD partition? And then boot the HDD partition?

Yes this is possible.
But you need the right /dev/sdx argument for dd.
After dd you need to update/change the /etc/fstab with the new UUID for the rootfs there.
Because the UUID is different.

I test this with the Opensuse13.2 and fedora17 images bevor. I must update /etc/fstab otherwise the boot hangs at "Cant find an rootfs ...."

Hi Papaoskar,

Well, you only need the kernels and initrds on your CF card.

Cheers,

Christian

Hi Christian,
but where do the kernel modules go? As every kernel seems to have different modules it is important question. Up to now I copied the kernel modules directory on to the target drive /lib

You could copy some kernel modules directories to /lib/modules if you like.

For example the kernel modules directory for the stable longterm kernel 4.1.20:

Code: Select all

sudo cp -R 4.1.20_A-EON_AmigaONE_X1000_Nemo /lib/modules/

I always get the message: Failed to load modules. They were not found. This was the reason why I asked, where the modules belong.
