I have compiled the RC 4 of the kernel 3.15 but it doesn't boot.

By the way, here is a very interesting thread about Lubuntu 14.04 on a Power Mac G5 Quad: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2221421

Hi All,

I have tried to boot the RC 6 but without any success. I have sent my experience to the ppc mailing list.

Hope you succeed, and thank you for developing new kernel to the x1000 linux front.

Michael and I try to figure out which patch breaks our platform. We're working with the linux kernel git.

Code: Select all

git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git linux2-git

Code: Select all

git bisect start

Code: Select all

git bisect good d8ff9cdf68fd119d491f3de90e1a612afc2f3b2b

Code: Select all

git bisect bad 18a1a7a1d862ae0794a0179473d08a414dd49234
If this revision doesn't work, then we pick a new commit to test.

Code: Select all

git bisect bad
This is really a lot of work.

Just for info: I have tested the RC 7 and it doesn't boot, either. :-(

Note: The kernel 3.15 doesn't boot and I have no more ideas to fix that problem. Therefore it won't released next week. I'll only update the kernel 3.13 series and the kernel 3.14 series, in the future.

I have fantastic news for you! :-)

Darren has created a new patch for the kernel 3.15 and he has compiled the kernel 3.15.6. It boots without any problems. Thanks Darren. :-)

We'll test the new kernel before we upload it.
