Have installed ubuntu 13.04. With a net_install and kernel 3.5.7 . It was a little difficult in the beginning because I could not get to a graphic's login. I reinstalled gnome from the terminal and could now login. At first very disappointing, only gnome fallback without effects not Frezze. Got the idea to install KDE and it works amazingly well. 3d effects chains with cube desktop. Gimp 2.8 works abiword 2.9.2 works but other things like blender and boswars does not work.
I will keep installation to what is happening.

Of course :)
vmlinux-3.8.7 works
lxde works
gnome does not work
Unity does not work
Kde works
lost 3d again hmmm
My sound card @ julie is not found.

Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10 is much better Particularly 12.04 is to be reasonably stable.
12.10 got the latest version of gimp and blender and it makes it a little exciting but it is a little unstable.
Both have full 3D with compiz and my sound card is also found on both.
Did xp start?

Yep XP is installed and do the First-Boot-Config ;)

Hm I try the Lubuntu13.04 with 3.5.7 and 3.8.7 with my RadeonHD5450 and get no screens found.

BTW with the 3.8.7-Kernel You can use USB3 with your X1000 if a PCIexpress-Card is inside ;)

Get Supertuxkart0.8 and play a little with it. Funny Game ;)

32Bit x86 with Cirrus logic GPU (as i have a 32-bit Windows-XP-Home-CD for it)
I disable Audio for better Speed.
Speed is Low but i think enough for Office ;) (Office 2003)

In the Moment i must still complete the setup

I have done this with Ubuntu on a Powerbook a Year ago and the Speed was ok. Just for Windows-Office.

Anyway you need hugh Time for installing.

I Post tomorrow some Screenshots.

Wow ... you guys! Windows XP on and A1-X1000 ...really! ;-)

With regards to the Ubuntu 13, Pat Wall has been testing testing the 13.04 variations. He reports that the 2D version of Unity has been discontinued and the 3D version won't fully load which is puzzling given that hardware acceleration is working and it even passes the Unity 3D test. However, he says the Xubuntu and Lubuntu desktops look very slick. He says it's amazing what a decent theme, icon and font set can do for XFCE and LXDE.

Also very impressive. :-)

Since QEMU can emulate any CPU, has anyone tried to emulate a Classic Amiga CPU? OK redundant I know since OS has RuninUAE but ............;-)
