CF Card. What Size is best?

Post by amigasociety »

Figured since I a about to buy a 2nd hard drive for my X1000, I should go ahead and buy and install a CF Card too.

For those using one, what size did you use?

It depends on your requirements. I used a 2GB CF card (I had laying around) to store all the Debian kernels I was testing (about a dozen) and still only used a few percent of the storage space available.

LIkewise

I initially used a 16MB CF from a very old camera that did alright for the boot file but once these various linux kernels appeared I had to increase the capacity; luckily I had recently purchased 3 x 4GB CF cards with interfaces from Amigakit so sacrificed one of these new puppies contents for the job. To limit any potential format problems however I formatted it in the Work Laptop as to ensure FAT file format compliance (I think if you format it under AmigaOS CrossDos you're not guaranteed success? but it might not be that way anymore)
