Lyle can you answer us if audio output connected via S/PDIF (digital output?) works like "green" jack connector?

Anyone has audio connected via S/PDIF and does/doesn't Mixer work?

Can you try to connect X1000_audio <-> HiFi with a "typical" jack 3.5mm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phone_connector_(audio)) stereo output?
I try it tomorrow

I believe you found the cause.
The volume controls are applied at the Digital to Analog converters.
The S/PDIF is digital, so it never passes through the DACs, S/PDIF has no volume controls.

This leaves AHI as the only way to control S/PDIF volume, or possibly the local volume control on your receiver or audio device.

Javier,

This is Beta. Any idea when it will become a shiny, new, official Mixer replacement?

AND in anticipation of the above could you tell me rather explicitly how to get hdaudio v6.22?
[Since the string v6.22 officially fails the minimum requirements for "search" and a search would probably only bring pages and pages of THIS thread. A search with "hdaudio" gets those AND all the moaning about "no mixer" for the on board chip... that is why I ask.]

I fruitlessly slogged through all of the OS4 related Hyperion download folders and didn't find it.

OS4 Depot was not helpful to me either.

Unless I am mistaken, HDAudio 6.22 was recently distributed by AmiUpdate to all registered users. Oddly enough, it did not install on my machine, because my machine was the original source.
Because Mixer is not an OS component, Javier will choose some other distribution method.. Though there IS an AmiUpdate server for non-os components.

Well done, Mixer works now here :D
Do you need a german ct?
Do you need modern fresh icons?
I have one suggestion. I put Mixer docky in Amidock and it need two mouse clicks to open it.
All my other Amidock stuff need only one mouse click to open it
Can you add it please?

MIXER.DOCKY Tooltypes:
- WINDOBORDERS=YES|NO, show/hide DockWindow window borders.
- DOCKY_1CLICK=YES|NO, pop-ups DockWindow on single click.
- DOCKY_ICON=<fullpath_to_icon> (WITHOUT '.info') to set a custom docky icon.
Example: DOCKY_ICON=envarc:sys/def_sound

See Lyle reply. Use AmiUpdate. (http://a-eontechnology.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=1737)

..
hdaudio.audio 6.22 (now available to registered users via AmiUpdate) has the ability be controlled from Mixer.

Javier,

See 3 pictures worth a TLDR at http://www.cjwyche.org/2014/20140805/20140805.html

==========================================================
Why does AmiDock say "need v6.22", but Mixer volume works as advertized?
Gory detail below, hopefully not worth a read.

Implies I have v6.22. Then why the attached?
1) I (re)read http://blog.hyperion-entertainment.giz/?p=1136
2) I downloaded http://jabirulo.site90.com/temp/Mixer_dockyBETA4.7z
3) I downloaded http://jabirulo.site90.com/temp/MixerV140BETA3.7z
Sigh.
4) I downloaded http://os4depot.net/index.php?function= ... xad_7z.lha
and did the install. After a time... figured I needed to reboot.
5) Installed Mixer_dockyBETA4.7z, but *I* had to pause open another window and create
a Mixer directory...Again...I needed to create a "Mixer" directory (which I had
deleted way back when it was /never/ going to be needed
after I switched to the onboard sound chip).
6) After several more failures with unArc on MixerV140BETA3.7z, I downloaded it again.
Shrug. This time presented the list of files.

7) Rebooted.

8) And now the referenced situation as soon as the Desktop is formed.

I'm game to keep going. What's the order of debugging I should do?

George,
I can answer some of your questions.. and perhaps give you a clearer picture of what you need.
Some of your questions will have to be answered by Javier though.

I hope he doesn't mind me taking the easy ones! ;)

The window you got saying "Needs HDAudio.device version 6.22 or better"
is NOT a failure message. It is a reminder that anyone testing this mixer should have the latest HDAudio device first.
Since this is a beta release, it's just an attempt to knock down one possible point of confusion.

In fact his Mixer has not checked the HDaudio version, and it works fine after giving this message. I assume this message will be removed for the release version of Mixer.

Now on to a few little details if I may:
There is no HDAudio.device. the file he meant to specify is devs:ahi/HDAudio.audio.
To see if you have the correct, updated version, you can open a shell and enter
version file devs:AHI/HDAudio.audio
If things go well you'll get a reply something like
hdaudio.audio 6.22

That should help with your questions about the nag requester and whether or not you have the updated version.

Just to offer a bit more detail:
This Mixer will _probably_ work with earlier versions of the HDAudio driver, for main volume only.
But the recording gain and level will not do a thing unless you have the latest driver. This entire
audio pathway was moved to a separate internal channel for 6.22.
If you're really up for boring details you can read about why I moved it in this recent
blog entry.http://blog.hyperion-entertainment.biz/?p=1136

Now, about Mixer specific installation stuff, I'll defer to Javier. But I hope the above has helped with
at least some of the questions you brought.

LyleHaze

Edit:
If you prefer a more difficult method, :?
You can cut and paste these next few lines into a file, and then save it and execute it.
You'll get a simple statement telling you if your driver is new enough for this mixer...

Version Devs:AHI/HDAudio.audio VERSION 6 REVISION 22
IF WARN
echo "You need to update to the new HDAudio driver"
ELSE
echo "Your HDAudio driver is OK for the Mixer release"
ENDIF

Yes, I know it's easier to just type the version line and see for yourself..
but I like to play in the shell occasionally.
