The network error was due to it having our network details. Not a problem to solve.

Does that mean his machine wasn't set-up to use DHCP, or that DHCP wasn't working with his router?

Correct, we use static to test as DHCP doesnt work for some reason at our location. DHCP has never worked on any OS4.1 machine.
However testing say our A1 at home, works perfect on DHCP. I dont know why, but it just doesnt like our router or something.

In the future, I will make sure to remove the net config we use for testing. I normally always do this, just missed it on DDNI's.

It might simplify your job (and reduce the chance of errors like this) if you switch to a router that works with OS4's DHCP. I have never had any problems with Netgear routers - I used to use DG834 & DG834G models, but I've now switched to a more modern DGN2200 model. (Incidentally, those routers are very good anyway, in my experience.)

It might simplify your job (and reduce the chance of errors like this) if you switch to a router that works with OS4's DHCP. Is it an ADSL or cable router? If it is an ADSL router then I have never had any problems with replacing the ISP-provided router with a generic router. (A few of the bigger companies have started to get a bit funny, but will usually provide the necessary broadband username & password when pressed.) If it is a cable router, then it used to be easier, but can be more difficult these days (no username or password is needed, but you do have to use their supplied cable router - although you could try asking for just a plain cable modem, then you can use any generic "gateway" that you want, including Netgear).

Have tried a few different routers, all the same result.
Dont get me wrong, I know what Im doing when it comes to routers and setting them up.

Its a very odd situation, which I can not seen an answer for, as every other device connecting to it is perfect on DHCP.
So why would you mess with a fully working 100% router setup. If you called the ISP and let them reel through the onscreen guide they have, as soon as you say Amiga, OWB etc etc, they are like WTF is that. They would then proceed to accidently cut you off, .

Yes that may be but on OS4 the keys are reversed which is very annoying! At least it was on mine so I had to add the CFE variable. But mine is old now.

Regarding Help, Apple keyboards have one, but when I tested on my A1 they sent an Insert. Perhaps we can work with this. But F14 should correspond to Scroll Lock.

The ISP shouldn't be involved. The router just passes along an assigned IP address with itself as the gateway and net-mask as a simplification. I have a DG834G and it has been fine. But that is with my A1 and built in Ethernet.

Could it be your broadband router setup? These could differ. Mine uses standard DHCP on server side and NATs between router and outside world AFAICT. Could your ISP address be static or router be bridged to ISP in a different mode?

What happens if you unplug the router from the Internet? Can DHCP work then? Can other machines work with DHCP either way or is it just an OS4 problem?

A friend was also having this trouble with his router, an Asus 500-Wl with DD-WRT firmware. There was a discussion with Olaf about it and it was found some DHCP servers in routers don't adhere to the DHCP protocol. As long as Windows works they aren't concerned. So workarounds were put into Roadshow to get around the problem. And AFAK they had helped. Being the X1000 has update 5 it should be working better.

Perhaps enable debug mode for DHCP and send the log to Olaf with module versions. I think it would be good to diagnose these problems and get as much hardware working with OS4 as possible as it should be.
