No CD/DVD on Workbench

Post by Valiant »

I recently got my X1000 running again after one of the memory modules gave out. Previously when I inserted a CD or DVD it would appear on the Workbench, but now I get nothing at all except that the install disc will show up. Anyone have a clue as to what is going on or some suggestions I might try.

Thanks,

Sam440ep, 666Mhz, 512Mb

I take it you tried different CD's/DVD's?

If the install CD shows up the driver seems to work.
Maybe you were just unlucky to grab some media that has nothing to show on AmigaOS?
Try any audio CD...

Ok, I tried some more audio CDs and they for the most part showed up; it's just my Sony PS CD's and any DVD that don't show up on the Workbench.

Thanks for the reply,

Another probably dumb question, but did you switch the DVD drive recently?

Two more things to try.

- Replug the DVD's cables (especially data cable) on both the drive and the main board
- Check the driver version, I'm using
Sys:Kickstart/CDFileSystem 53.8 (20.10.2019)

I haven't switched the DVD recently so I tried replugging the DVD cables. The audio CDs still show up, but it did nothing as far as DVD's showing up on wb. The driver version is CDFileSystem 53.11 (07/23/2022).

Uh neat, where'd you get the updated version?

If I got it too I could rest if the new version has a bug

You might have noticed the title in my info, so I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to share that version yet. I downgraded the version back to 53.3 but there've been no changes. There are some versions between 53.5 and 53.10 that I should be able to try.

The drive is a Samsung TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-222AB.

Friends don't have secrets! :-D

I'm out of ideas, could you maybe try a different brand?
