Many thanks, but I am still not sure which firmware is suitable for my motherboard.

There are:
directly on motherboard: Pegasos dual PPC, rev 2B2, 2001-2004 (c) bplan

On first screen (pre-boot):
P/N133-PC1306-01B
..Smart Firmware for Pegasos 2 version 1.2 (20040810112413)

during boot to Morphos:
System: bplan Pegasos 2, rev 2B
CPU: PPC 7457, ver. 0x8002, rev. 0x101

In Linux benchmark tool:
CPU 7447/7457

in AOS:
CPU Motorola MPC 7447/7457 Apollo

This is not fit with numbers on wiki/pegasos, and I dont know which firmware is for my board.
I would rather stay with 1G RAM than danage my old Peg...

Yes some time is better stay calm and don't do something can broke the machine...

Another tip is : Good Audio Card = Better System Performances
Yes After put on my Pegasos II a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 the machine start gave me a better performance every ware ... example Quake in software rendering Gave me 4/5 fps more and Video decoding make the machine use less the CPU, plus you will enjoy great Surround Audio at 48.000hz and 32 channels with crystal sound .
You can simply find this audio card for 5/7 euros on Ebay ...

Another tip is: Use in productive mode the Radeon 9800pro on Pegasos II

This great card right now on the AmigaOs isn't fully supported but i can say after many tests the performance of it are really incredible.
After installing this card go in Sys:Prefs/Gui and disable 3D acceleration set the system for "performance"...
This Card don't have Composition acceleration enabled , but the most incredible think is the BOOST in the SDL software ...
Compared with 9000pro (the best 3d supported video board right now) you will have and increasing in the SDL software for about 400%...
I tested Mame, Basilisk , Dosbox , Euae jit SDL, Mplayer Sdl
... with Mame SDL you will have the opportunity to play 3d games too without loosing performances (strider2 is great working)
Euae Jit SDL without jit enabled i have 29,7 mips on the emulated amiga
Dosbox run win95 like is native
Basilisk II 1.04 is impressive in full screen running
Mplayer SDL 480p without frame drops..
Quake 1 Sofware rendering 640x480x8 = 155fps (9800pro) 144 (9000pro) 125(9250 128bit) 114(9200)

This card working great with Overlay Mplayer 480p video play and scaling without frame drops

For the 3d software i can suggest download wazp3d on aminet for run great and fast all the Hunoppc ports without problems

Note: my Pegasos2 is 1.266mhz is about 25% more faster of 1ghz machine
AmigaOne Xe 933 mhz Radeon 9000pro Samsung 840 SSD
Pegasos2 1266mhz Radeon 9800pro Verbatib Sata3 SSD
Sam 460ex Lite 2gb Ram , Radeon 6670,Toshiba 500gb Sata/HDD
Amiga Cd32 / Amiga 600 / Amiga 500 / Amiga CDtv/ Amiga 4000 / Amiga 1200 /Amiga 2000 and many many many z3 Boards

example the couple: the "half complete driver" of 9800pro with Soudblaster Live 5.1! gave me the opportunity for have this great result on my Pegasos2
this because look like the SDL software on the 9800pro look like speed up really incredible

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS6tGxe348U

This specific game show in this video with the same configuration but with internal audio and the Radeon9000 was need skip 1 or 2 frames for become fluid and playable,
now with 9800pro and SBlive i have 100% full speed and no frame skipped
AmigaOne Xe 933 mhz Radeon 9000pro Samsung 840 SSD

this are my Pegasos 2 performances with the 9800 pro on gfx bench ... No composite driver on OS4 make the board have a less point but in all the test (no copy mem test) the card result be much faster compared with a radeon 4650 pcie in 2d operations

I send am email to Thomas Knäbel from bplan, and he confirmed, that last version of SmartFirmware for my Pegagso II rev. 2B2 is version 1.2 (20040810112413).
He also confirmed that this motherboard is 2G capable, but there was a very limited amount modules which works....
I updated informations on wiki page.
Unfortunately I have to continue testing memory modules to find the right pair....
Do anybody have working Pegasos 2B2 with 2GB ?
