Amigaone XE UBoot hangs

Post by AmigaAbattoir »

I recently tried getting my Amigaone XE up and running again. I replaced the battery and tried starting it up. I get no signal over video and all I get over serial is:

Code: Select all

U-Boot 1.2.0 (Sep 13 2007 - 01:39:29), Build: 09/05/07

CPU: MPC7450 v2.1 @ 800 MHz
Board: AmigaOne
DRAM: 512 MB
I removed all the cards (sata, sound, gfx), tried flipping the battery, and restarting. And I can get:

Code: Select all

U-Boot 1.2.0 (Sep 13 2007 - 01:39:29), Build: 09/05/07

CPU: MPC7450 v2.1 @ 800 MHz
Board: AmigaOne
DRAM: *** failed ***
### ERROR ### Please RESET the board ###

I put the battery back and it goes back to step one. Any hints on what I could try?

Odd, I moved the memory to the second slot and it started up. Always though it had to be in the slot closest to the CPU. That got it to boot to the OS 4.1 Final Edition CD.

Did you try moving the memory back in the original slot afterwards?

Maybe it just had some residue on the contacts causing a bad connection, which was then cleared by taking it out and inserting it again.

If that turns out to be true, a more thorough cleaning of the contacts might be in order to postpone the time when it happens again.

Best regards,

Niels

I switched the memory, and it booted fine, but then when trying to copy some file and it locked up. Switched the memory back to the other bank, and tried copying files and didn't have any issues. I'll have to order some more contact cleaner and then try again.
