Someone from a different forum suggested replacing the battery and that indeed did the trick... now it's working again! Embarassing, but I didn't think of the battery! I still find it strange though that an empty battery causes a loss of the VGA signal. I'd expect U-Boot settings and system clock state to get lost when the battery is empty but on the MicroA1c apparently the whole system stops working. Strange, but it's nice to see that the MicroA1 is up and running again

Gah, should've thought of that myself :-/
The whole micro, se, xe series suffers from "drained battery syndrome"...all kind of followup problems...had some of them myself with the xe.
Great to have the little beast running again...
