Ok, I have onboard sound, I plugged in a pair of passive speakers and set up ahi with unit 0 and on reboot it played a sound!
When I tried play cd in utilities, it just locks up
PlayCD works, I just didn't understand ahi
Back to work---ok, tunenet works on cd!
Ok A1 XE g4 running 4.1.5 great.
I have a 9250 in the agp slot, which means I can't use the 33/66 pci slot...right?
I have a nec usb 2.o card in the next pci slot, but I plan to move it to the 2nd pci slot to use the sii3114 card
this brings me to the third slot which has a sound card...
and no slots left.
I really wanted to use catweasel card and the only card I'm willing to give up is the sound card.
Do I have to live with no sound or how can I tell if this motherboard has a sound chip? (to use the onboard audio)
Thanks,
M
Next stop sii3114

Re: slot choices- update- solved
Probably the easiest way is to check the debug log right after Amiga has finished booting. To do that open a Shell window and enter command dumpdebugbuffer.msalcedo wrote:Do I have to live with no sound or how can I tell if this motherboard has a sound chip? (to use the onboard audio)
The last 7 (or so) log entries should be about sound cards. If you see line "[VIA-AC97] Error: sorry, you don't seem to have the AC'97 codec!", then you don't have an onboard sound chip.

Many thanks, I was just talking to myself for a while there.
At this point, I'm just jazzed to have audio!
Thanks again,
M
