Hmm... Then we have the same components and same OS setup with a dual boot between 3.9 and 4.1, but it always seems to come down to a hardware compatibility issue. There must be something in the 7720's firmware that OS 4.1 doesn't like, but each update has an new(we) kernel. I would try a 7720 firmware update, but use a SCSI drive to get a full install with updates through number 5.

Here is some info on 7720UW firmwares causing problems:

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?p=562917#post562917

v3.86 works for me.

But I am guessing it could be some RDB troubles given your PC drive worked. If you don't care about the data on your drive you can try using the WB3.1 HDtooolbox to reinstall the RDB and see if that helps.... has for some.

found an old scsi hd..
without acard adapter i can write rdbs to the disk and boot os4..
so i will downgrade the acards and looking forward.

if nothing helps i will use a scsi harddisk ;)

Sounds like potentially something may be going wrong in the RDB. Did you install the 68k version of SFS into the RDB with the correct dostype (and verified it was correct)? (This can cause your amiga's behaviour) When you say it keeps on rebooting, please state everything you observe including the timing between reboots.

Please let us know the exact steps you are following, including partition size and locations, when you are preparing a HDD for OS4.
Also if you can please state the settings you have for all of your used SCSI IDs in the CSPPC menu.

i used this manual to install sfs.
http://blog.hyperion-entertainment.biz/?p=210

i tryed it also with ffs .. if is choose ffs. the amiga will boot in the os4.1 kernel and after the inital screen appears it waill hang again..
damn meanwhile i lost my hairs

when ide with os4 is connected and filesystem is ffs...
i noticed that when i boot from scsi. after the initial screen appears it will boot from ide.
ok no problem i thought ( boot prio is higher than the scsi one. )
i disconnected the ide and it cannot boot from scsi as is wrote above-

Hi Flare,

So FFS is the exact same results as SFS? Which SFS are you using? SFS/01? It boots from cold boot, but then on second reboot from os4 kickstart it hangs at splash screen? Please show us a screenshot of your filesystems installed in the RDB as well as of your partitions from media toolbox.

Can you confirm the exact config of your scsi chain including terminators?

If you are familiar with using a null modem cable, that is one way of finding out what is going on when it hangs at the splash screen.

its a bit strange.. i decided to use ide instead of scsi..

i added an old ide hd to the ide port... on the ide hd allready some partitons from my old amiga system.
i connected my cdrom to the second port ..
i booted from cd , the os4.1 screen appears and it hang again
i disconnect the hd and i can boot into os4 from cd

.......speechless

so much tests and so much failures..

it cannot be other hardware that i have in my setup.
i can boot os4 flawless from cd when nothing more is connected to the ide or scsi port. when the hd is uninitialized it works also

i also can boot os4 from my 2.5 hd that was installed by my a1200er.
unfortunately i connected my 2.5 hd displaced by one pin
and now its gone..

im going crazy..

Now i will setup a working system on my 1200er and use it in my 4000.

i have a nullmodemcable somewhere and i know how to use it..
will connect my old win98 pc to the serialport to face the truth ;)
