I can't believe that some people are expected to get new features for free - that is not normal IT practice. Update 1 was an extremely unusual & much appreciated (by me anyway) collection of new features for OS4.1 (plus bug fixes of course). That we got USB2 for free in Update 3 was also rather generous of Hyperion, IMHO.

Personally speaking I am worried that at this rate (of giving away new features for free) they won't have enough new features to justify AmigaOS4.2... but that isn't my problem!

BTW, if anyone can't live with the current Shell (I would not blame them) then they just need to install KingCON. It works wonderfully, in fact so well that I don't actually care about the new "Shell" (CON handler)...

@ChrisH

Absolutely seconded :-)

The pace on updates may seem a bit slow to some people, but i think it's above fast for a niche system and only a handfull of coders.
Great work i have to say.

Free upgrades are superb and i for one will pay for a new big version...the least i can do to support the system i love...and keep it alive.

The CON/Shell upgrade will be a much appreciated addition but i can wait...i *do* work and port with the Amiga shell and learned to live with its limitation and as such will welcome a new upgraded version, but as i said...i can wait :-)

I am right now happy for a more stable system and at last gdb is working again :-D
Thanks Hyperion!

/me fanboy ;-)

Wait, WHAT :?: :!:

But THAT is what I call NEWS and nobody until now dared to announce it ?
I'm dying to have to opportunity to test it by myself soon (despite I have downloaded the update I haven't had the chance to install it yet because my mother in law is at home currently and she's sleeping in the study room where I have my A1XE and my guitars, so the last few evenings I had to go to sleep earlier than I used to normaly :( )

I did, didn't i? :-D

And it does work, although it has some strange behaviour...

If one runs the main program, CPU load will go up to 100% immediately...one can still work with it, though.
run <arg> will start the program in question, but there is no feedback if it does run whatsoever...big programs will take some minutes before there is even output, but as i said, it works (tried it with residual just now) :-)

I can do a backtrace...unfortunately (my luck!) i got addresses that are far beyond the exe to print anything useable (the same address space is displayed in Grim, so it's not a problem of gdb - as addr2line neither prints anything ... back to the start for me)

I saw the new shell about two years ago from a betatester during an Amiga Event.. two years for a shell is a long time imho..
