hi guys,

i've a problem with new massStorage and filesysbox.library and NTFS file system: i've an external usb HD wd 700gb 2,5" with some music, images, etc, if i play a music mp3 file with amigaamp or tunenet and i recall USB MassStorage with Exchange or with ctrl alt m the system sometime freeze and also it sometime freeze when i try to close the usb massstorage, another problem i try to watch an image with FastView i've an exception (see the log), if i open the same image that i have on internal hd on sfs partition it doesn't occur

Sounds and looks like a bug in FastView. Try contacting the author.

ok for fastview i've just contacted the author and the problem seems to be the space in filename/directory and then an OS problem and not of the application, but the freeze that i've opening the massstorage prefs example when it playing a song ??

I'm the author of FastView.
SofisticSoftware just tried by removing the spaces. Still crash.

I would like to test FastView under NTFS

But how to format an USB key to NTFS with only an Amiga ?

I have just tried at work under WinXP, I only have FAT and FAT32.

Is it possible under AOS4 ? Or at least under MintPPC ?

You can't currently create a new NTFS partition on an unpartitioned USB disk since that would require something like Media Toolbox with support for MBR partitioning system, but what you can do is format an existing NTFS partition using either the normal WB/CLI method or using c:mkntfs for more control.

Dont know, if this works unpartitioned stick, mine was allready NTFS.

Open MTB, Install, save . This didnt work first time...

save changes to disk. Boot needed ?

Add partition, Select file system/edit details and custom filesystem, identifier 0x4e544653, ok save.

Dont have any non NTFS usb stick around to test.

Nor I dont have idea about correct block size.

It shows up like DH1 as in MTB, not actually USB0: and doesnt work with dismount name: but old good assign name: dismount works.

That's an RDB (AmigaOS partitioning scheme) partition so it won't be usable from Windows but IIRC one of the betatesters reported he was able to use such a partition from Linux (Linux supports RDB as well as MBR) so if your only goal is to exchange data between Linux and AmigaOS then it might work.

Ok, I thought that it is not that simple. Couldn't resist to test at least.

It still behave well and as expected in amiga.

Thanks for your tips.
But as I don't had a NTFS drive, I convert an FAT one under XP (with convert command)

Now I have 2 USB sticks,

1) FAT32 named "UNNAMED" where I have copied pictures and FastView program and Catalogs

2) NTFS named "USB_DISK" where I have copied pictures and FastView program and Catalogs

On the first one, no problem pictures and catalog are OK

But on NTFS one, it fails to find the catalog in PROGDIR: (see snoopy) and picture loading works only when dragging picture inside the window (using WorkbenchControl() )

What is strange is that it seems that NTFS drive is case sensitive.

In a CLI, if I type "fastview" I have "unknow command". I have to write "FastView" to open FastView on my NTFS key.
No problem on the FAT key.

It was really a "case sensitive" problem.

Now, I take care of the "case" and it works

For the catalog, it's more problematic.
It works if I rename French drawer to french drawer.

Salass00, is it normal that NTFS was case sensitive ?
