@tonyw

Would it also be possible to enhance (or at least add some information) to this part of the serial output?
Mode 3840x2160x24@61 is not supported at the given frequency

Mode 3840x2160x 8@29 63.668kHz out of range
372: HSync Min/Max = 29900/135100, calc = 63668; VSync Min/Max = 55/62, calc = 29
Valid ranges are vsync 55 - 62hz, hsync 29900 - 135100hz
As you can see, the first one is rather vague without any real information as to what is wrong.
The second is much clearer.

Thank you

...and please keep me updated on your tests...

The "not supported at the given frequency" message is a result of the scan rates demanding a pixel clock outside the allowable range (I assume the range has been specified by the DDC data).

We could add a second line showing the limits and the calculated value, but it would be of interest only to people like yourself, running the debug kernel and reading the debug output. That data is really intended for "special" people, not the general public, who won't even be running a debug kernel.

The graphics library with the altered VSync limits has been released to betatesters and I have requested that any with a UHD monitor check it out.
cheers

@tonyw

I'm not running the debug kernel, though.

Thank you for the update
