Re: X5000

@Tijazjj Hi have a question how do you check ram amount.mine is showing 2gig fast ram although I have 16. Being a 32bit system, AmigaOS cannot address more than 2GB of memory. As Petrol says, the ExtMem object addition to 4.1 Final Edition allows applications to use extra memory for allocation purpo...

Re: AmigaOS maximum resolution (Radeon R5 230)

It seems that AmigaOS is preferring the DVI port on the video card and is not showing any image when only HDMI is plugged in. My experience is the same, using a Sapphire Radeon R5 230 card. No picture past the boot logo when plugged over HDMI. and to just accept that 2560x1600 is not usable in Amig...

Re: AmigaOS maximum resolution (Radeon R5 230)

I am not able to set my resolution for my monitor higher than 1920 x 1080 [...] Is there a way to fix this in AmigaOS? I doubt AmigaOS is at fault here. I have a Sapphire Radeon R5 230 card in my X5000, and I run 1920x1200 happily. I use straight DVI connection, though (no adaptor). I assume you ha...

Re: New style for PlayCD and Clock

@tommysammy I don't think you should bother with redesigning PlayCD. The program is quite useless today because it requires CD-ROM drives that connect audio output to your soundcard, i.e. components that are no longer produced. People use PlayCDDA as a replacement. As for Clock, there is a modern sk...

Re: Classic/68K Development tooling baseline

@NinjaCyborg Sorry that we're unable to point you to a place where the forums are buzzing with 68K development activity, but you're really asking in a wrong place. It's like visiting a French restaurant and asking the waiter where's the best place to eat fish-and-chips. If amiga.org (IMHO the number...

Diskimage.device problem

Strange, my X5000 doesn't seem to like diskimage.device :-( I tried installing the latest version (53.4) from OS4depot using the provided installer, but it booted into a blank Workbench screen (the screen has a normal title bar with "Workbench Screen" in it but otherwise it's empty (light-...

Re: Is it worth adding a swap partition?

If it helps using more than 2 GB of RAM... Exactly. Despite the technique being simple and ancient, it's better than having the extra memory completely unusable. Programs working with large data (such as a sound- or video editor) may use it as a handy storage, rather than swapping out to disk. I ca...

Re: Tab color change on mouse pointer hover

@Raziel I guess this would be a big enhancement as it probably means to change/enhance every GUI item? As GM_RENDER (= the method that renders the gadget imagery) is implemented by each individual gadget rather than by the master class, the background colour change would indeed have to be programmed...

PCIe riser

Has anybody got any experience with using a PCIe riser on the CyrusPlus board? I'm thinking of putting the board into a slim desktop ATX case, but all the cases I could find require my PCI/PCIe cards to be placed horizontally on a riser. If that can be done, I'd appreciate if someone could recommend...
