I discovered that if I plug the USB drive in after I boot MATE, Ubuntu_16.04 shows up on the Desktop alongside AMIGAONE and Sam4xx, and GParted shows it mounted. If I plug it in before booting, only the latter two are mounted. Unfortunately waiting until CFE is up before plugging it in doesn't help...
You have to copy the image to the whole USB flash drive ( /dev/sde ). The new one fails with Kernel panic -- not syncing: No working init found. Try passing init= option to kernel. ..." Did I use the wrong image? Are they both wrong for an HD 5450? I'm certainly not planning to pass any option...
Yes my Btrfs-Partition is on a USB-Stick with MBR beside an exfat-Partition. Gparted knows both Partition but Ubuntu16.04.1 or Debian8/9 says unkown filesystem Btrfs.
