Re: Input of unique characters

IDCMP_VANILLAKEY is useless for all but the simplest of cases. Try IDCMP_RAWKEY.

Re: AllocVecTags() questions

I didn't even bother to check library calls. Amiga programs are so full of device I/O and library calls that it would make sense to me to make all AllocVecTags() memory allocations with MEMF_PUBLIC. I thought the default was MEMF_ANY (MEMF_SHARED) and if you wanted MEMF_PRIVATE you had to ask for i...

Re: Unlock() invalid lock object

Since "Google Drive handler" appears to be ported from MOS or 68k, will OS4 AmigaDOS only use old packets if the lock fl_DOSType field is set to a legacy filesystem (e.g. old FFS)? I don't think so. What it does is start with new packets and if they fail, it then uses old packets. The DOS...

Re: Unlock() invalid lock object

The warning in question is being posted during the execution of the list command. I doubt if the list command is unlocking anything twice or we would get the warning for other devices too. It would seem that the problem originates in the Google Drive handler code. That brings up a couple of other q...

Re: Troubles in Commodity-land

Similary, I like Exchange or such an app that consolidates usage or its supervision to one monitoring place (I dare not say where progs "register" :-) Does the command "status" differ so much from Exchange? "status" only shows running CLI programs, it can't control the...

Re: SSD hard disks and AmigaOS

You can choose a different storage model if you know the device you are talking to is an SSD. The old FAT file systems were designed to run on floppy disks of varying capacity, so they left all the disk-oriented data and root directory at the beginning. It probably works just as well (or badly) if ...

but I can't really be bothered to argue about it and the bugtracker won't let me add to or re-open the bug anyway. Did you try to login? Your account is approved. As such you are able to comment and to reopen tickets. But that requires a successfull login. Otherwise everything is forbidden or at le...

Re: How to detect when an icon is dragging over a window

Thank you, Chris, for you reply "You can read the mouse position from your window structure, and work it out." I still do that but it returns me the position only when icon is dropped (or mouse is released). LONG appDropZone_hook(struct Hook *hook, APTR reserved, struct AppWindowDropZoneM...

Re: Troubles in Commodity-land

@chris MUI registers everything as a commodity irrespective of what it actually is AFAIK. I'd certainly regard this as an abuse of the commodities framework Me too (if it's really the case). Could abuse be any more blatant than this? :-) According to the response on my bug report, it can be disable...

Re: Troubles in Commodity-land

I use a lot of seperate screens and after I've iconified a program from a seperate screen to reduce screen crowding, I find it convenient to be able to reopen the iconified program with a hotkey rather than switching to the Workbench screen, clicking the icon and then returning to the screen I'm wo...
