Re: Exec Bug Report

You can. But in the case of a recovery alert the system should still be working fine and such things as a stack are trace are beyond the scope of a casual user. It does make sense to use a system requester for a yellow alert. The casual user should never be presented with an alert, I would receomen...

Re: Exec Bug Report

@Hypex Though it could be suitably displayed in a system requester the Grim does show an alert code. Might not be as obvious as if you have to dig for info and go deeper than the first window. You can also get a stack trace from the GR which you couldn't from the plain old yellow alert, so you are b...

Re: Exec Bug Report

@thomas Besides that these functions are meant as a last resort if the system is almost dead. In such situation the GR cannot run any more, too. The "Grim Reaper" may not open but the "Reaper" will most likely still catch the alert and send the initial debug otput to serial (or d...

Re: Exec Bug Report

Running it now it keeps bringing up a GR which isn't right
This is how alerts are dealt with now, classic style yelow recevreable alrts kill the system, so are no longer appropriate, so yes it *is* "right".

There is no real reason to use an alert on Amiga OS4 anyway.

Re: Exec Bug Report

No all crash alerts are redirected to the GR (from FE at least, possibly earlier) haven't seen a 'yellow alert' for quite a while.

Re: radiobutton.gadget doesn't load/open

Yes indeed, you must open the classlibrary for any gadget you want to use and **must not** rely on some other application having opened first, if all other applications close the library it could get expunged leaving you up a creek without a dispatcher! For new code by preference use OpenClass() but...

Bt default the the def project icon is just a plain white icon that's hardly suitable for an iconfied anything let alone shell.

Re: Iconifying a console window

The console.device is looking in several places for 'def_shell.info' before it finds one to use. If you want the def_shell.info icon you should be doing: dobj = GetIconTagList(NULL,ICONGETA_GetDefaultName,"shell",ICONGETA_FailIfUnavailable,TRUE,TAG_DONE); ENVARC: is a directory assignment...

Re: OS 3.1.4 Software Error w/ setpatch

I traced it to the SetPatch command, and replacing SetPatch QUIET by SetPatch NOCACHE QUIET works OK. Are you sure that setpatch itself is crashing? Or is not that having enabled the cache some other aspect that doesn't like the cache enabled crashes? Was the cache enabled on your pre 3.1.4 install?
