Thanks, I'll try that as I did indeed rename the wrong one.Rigo wrote:That sounds like you are renaming the wrong one. Each time you boot the machine, settings stored in ENVARC: are copied to ENV: as access is requested, so you need to remove/rename the one in ENVARC:

Re: Sam460Ex AOS Display/Boot Problem
I removed it because ACube advised me to do that because I've only been given the old driver which doesn't support the newer cards (apparently - I don't understand how WB loaded at all if that was the case though). I'm just using it in order to be able to install AmiStore and buy/install the full/ne...

Re: Sam460Ex AOS Display/Boot Problem
It creates a new one anyway on boot after I've renamed it. I'm pretty sure using the old one (created using the HD5450 remember) would be a bad idea now I'm using the onboard graphics.

Re: Sam460Ex AOS Display/Boot Problem
Thanks Hans, it appears I didn't, so what I'm trying to do now is get to the point of installing AmiStore so I can buy the full driver. To do this I've removed the HD card and am using the onboard graphics through VGA. Unfortunately this either hangs in IPrefs on boot, or in Workbench as soon as I t...

Re: Sam460Ex AOS Display/Boot Problem
Well, I've been told (by ACube) that I actually purchased an FE license, so just have to wait. I'm very sure that wasn't what was advertised however (I got the last 460ex), although I know the description has since been updated. Oh well.

Re: Sam460Ex AOS Display/Boot Problem
Thanks, I'd love to do that but unfortunately I didn't receive either disc or SD card - apparently Hyperion asked/told ACube not to send me one with the order, but to wait for the FE disc instead. I asked them for an ISO but was told they wasn't possible. It's not ideal to be honest as I paid the &q...

Re: Sam460Ex AOS Display/Boot Problem
Latest status btw is that it's random whether IPrefs hangs or not. If it doesn't hang I then can't start basically anything from WB - double clicking an icon does nothing. The shell works ok though.

Re: Sam460Ex AOS Display/Boot Problem
Unsure, I've already emailed ACube to ask. AOS itself is 4.1 update 6 but I don't know the details of the graphics driver - it is just called "Radeon" in the Monitors drawer.

Re: Sam460Ex AOS Display/Boot Problem
Success, ish! I renamed screenmode.prefs to screenmode.X and it boots in to WB ok again. So now I'm back to the first problem - how to be able to use proper screen modes with my HD5450. EDIT - actually I can't start the screenmode prefs at all now, nothing happens when I double click it. Argh! EDIT ...

Re: Sam460Ex AOS Display/Boot Problem
Small progress via using "set echo on" in the startup sequence - it hangs during the "IPrefs" command.
