Re: Radeonhd audio

Can't you just send audio and if the thing that's on the other end of the HDMI cable ignores it or there is nothing connected then so be it? Honest answer: I'm just not sure. In an ideal specification there would be a set of base capabilities / channels / sample rates that all devices are required ...

Re: Radeonhd audio

Yes, you have the general idea of the issue, but if it's "inconvenient" to have to scan for capabilities, how does what you suggest make it any simpler? You are still scanning for capabilities, but doing it periodically and keeping lists is not any simpler than scanning it once. Perhaps I ...

Re: Radeonhd audio

"Radeon Audio", from the perspective of the user, should appear as just another audio driver. If you select Radeon Audio, AND you have a television connected by HDMI, then the sound output comes from your television speaker(s). I was pointing out that from a driver-writers perspective, it'...

Re: Radeonhd audio

Radeon does not have a sound chip, that's part of what makes it a pain in the.. Umm that's what makes it interesting, :) HD is supposed to be a "universal driver". One task is to find an "available output" as a destination for audio. This information is NOT part of the Radeon boa...

Re: So, what can I stick into the PCI slot on a MicroA1 boar

I tried many different USB2 cards, I never had any success.
I'm not saying it can't be done, just that mine never went there.

Re: Battery time

You make a good point. There have been many jokes made about Amigas and Batteries, but it is in part becauswe we do things differently. The average desktop PC has a very short lifespan compared to the average Amiga. I'm not sure how predictable it is though. I think a lot of it depends on how often ...

Re: Inherited a Sam460ex - Looks Good - Issues -Need Advice

The advice you have been given is sound. I'll add a minor detail though: Having important stuff saved to two different partitions makes a lot of sense. Making suere those two partitions are on physically separate disks is also worthwhile. If you suffer a hard error and lose the entire drive.. Well, ...

As soon as I stop making stupid mistakes, I'll feel free to make fun of other people.
It will not happen this week, and next week doesn't look good either. ;)

Re: HDMI dead?

But there is a little "tang" on the inner end of the motherboard connector that must be released before the card will come out of its slot. Isn't that the stuff the astronauts drank? I have had some issues here with HDMI cables coming loose. Check another cable, check another monitor, and...

Re: Support for XTREME X-94395 (PSX to USB adaptor)

I'm glad I could explain a bit. I have not studied the HID standards, but I will guess that "standard joystick" is probably less than a complete PSX controller. I wonder if HID supports the vibration motor, or the extra buttons on a PSX.. that might explain why they did it differently. You...
