Re: Out of memory

The "new" system will allow access to >2 GB of memory as "extended Memory" (i.e., LIMM) that is paged in and out; it requires a rewrite of the OS to use 64-bit addresses rather than the 32-bit it currently uses -- this is why Ubuntu/Linux can address more than 2 GB. I haven't rea...

Re: Out of memory

I guess that out of the 2 GB of ram, none is used for system addresses, pointers, USB and network stacks, and the OS (operating system); these locations should come from some sort of free "cloud" memory that is entirely out of the range of addressable system locations. Therefore, the whole...

Re: Paula 56khz

Google says that you have to turn DMA off and use a double-line screen mode for that; in AHI the best I've seen is something like 28 khz stereo at 14-bits. Since OS4.1 supports sound cards, I would go for higher fidelity that way without the need for special hacks, but that is just my opinion.

Re: XSurf100 + RapidRoad USB & Mouse Wheel Problems

Poseidon works fine in OS4.1, as does freewheel; I could never get native OS4.1 scroll support to work on my A4000T.

Without Poseidon the E3B boards except the Subway would never work, including the Deneb.

I have a Radeon HD 6970 that works, but did you check the graphics card hardware compatibility site?

Re: Acard 7730A Media Toolbox problem

The Acard devices work in general, but add a layer of complexity to your bus; try to get one at a time working and make sure both ends of your SCSI-3 bus has: Active, Powered, and Wide termination (there are explanations all over the forums on this). The CD drive runs are SCSI-2 Speed and will slow ...

Re: XSurf100 + RapidRoad USB & Mouse Wheel Problems

I don't know about all the other mouse buttons, but yes you need Freewheel for scroll support.

The other issues don't sound like an OS4.1 problem, but it would help if you separated them into individual threads.

Re: AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition for classic

As it has been discussed in depth before, Z3 and PCI video memory are too slow; a LIMM system used on Z3 memory would be the same as the virtual page memory management now used on th ZorRam and BigRamPlus boards. But those in their infinite wisdom may have a solution that puts additional ram in play...

Re: AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition for classic

The paged memory function are for systems with greater than 2 GB memory, not the classic. I assume that functions to the OS only will be seen in the classic version and as far as the BlizzardPPC, I wound not hazard a guess when €29.95 will tell.

Re: OS 4.1 on A3000T

There is a Mac guy who will replace the caps for $55 in Michigan but he can't test the Motherboard afterwards (www.maccaps.com). I've used him on a known working board with audio issues and now its great; I used Anthony Hoffmen to repair and recap around 5 motherboards, which he repairs and fully te...
