Re: Safe Exit code

I have written extensive example code in the autodocs for this particular situation. (as broadblues mentioned) Please review dos.doc file -> CreateNewProc(). If you don't have a relatively recent dos.doc file that has the three examples at the bottom, send me a PM with your email address and I can s...

Re: Updater

APPDIR: is a virtual volume just like RAM: or ENV: or other such handlers. APPDIR appears to you as a virtual disk that only contains softlinks. You can treat it just like any disk volume, short of formatting it or having actual files stored on it, it is also setup so that no disk icon appears on wo...

Re: Prototype definition for soft interrupt is not specified

The softint is_Code() native function prototype is the same as shown in the AddIntServer() autodoc; ULONG interruptHandler(struct ExceptionContext *Context, struct ExecBase *SysBase, void *UserData); The "UserData" is the value from is_Data. The "Context" is always NULL for a sof...

Re: How to disable APPDIR:?

I had some very strange behaviour until I noticed that this was caused by the new APPDIR: feature which I didn't know about. Is there any way to disable it? I've currently saved an empty file as ENVARC:APPDIR to make it go away but of course that is a rather brute force solution. Maybe there is a m...

Re: Spawn new copy of program

@colinw I want each process to be totally independent so the original copy can be closed at any time and not affect the others. Then that code is what you need, all that's required is to substitute main() for _start() and change the arguments to suit. Basically, just use the bit between "do{ ....

Re: Spawn new copy of program

You do have to make sure that you are not already being "run" or are already async from Workbench startup Why? Is there anything preventing one asynchronous process from spawning another asynchronous one? I'm just curious, I don't know whether that is what mritter0 wanted in the first pla...

Re: Spawn new copy of program

Is it possible to spawn a totally new copy of a program from itself? Totally independent of the first copy. And can you pass command line args to the new copy? Sure, you just effectively run youself and prepare the arguments. You do have to make sure that you are not already being "run" o...

Re: Jxfs partitions

The old version of JXFS from other platforms will not work on your X5000. There may be a special version released by Joerg Strohmayer that will work on the X5000 and later machines, but otherwise you will have to copy the contents of the partition to an SFS or FFS partition on your Sam 460. I'm not...
