Re: SAM440 freezes using both ethernet ports
don't forget that those "other OSs" can afford to make sure drivers will always be available for whatever hardware they may find themselves having to use. If e.g. I had installed OS 4.1 on my A1200, and it had had a default network setup included, my machine would most likely fail to boot...

Thanks for your info on how to save using datatypes, as I couldn't work out how to specify the type of a new datatype object
... but your tests also seem to show this is fairly academic, due to lack of support

Re: SAM440 freezes using both ethernet ports
you can configure the network with a few clicks and no worries at all I don't recall what options (if any) Update 1's fancy new first-time installer offered for networking, but IMHO it should not require ANY clicks (or no more than 1 click, on an "OK" button to accept the default). Really...

Re: SAM440 freezes using both ethernet ports
The driver only supports one ethernet port at a time. I was never able to configure both ethernet ports in Roadshow, such that it would work with whatever Ethernet port you plugged the cable in. Whenever I tried to configure both ports, neither port worked. Is your answer an explanation to this pro...

Re: Using SSD in uA1 is it OK to use SWAP?
My Sam440 only has 0.5GB of RAM, and I *never* run out of memory, except when compiling fairly large programs. Something like Blender might use a lot of memory for large models. Otherwise the only situation I can think of SWAP being required is if you have a memory leak, and don't reboot! With 1GB I...

Re: DTM_WRITE feature requests
The second is probably more important than the first, the lack of any way to find out if a subclass supports writing in their native format might explain why nobody ever uses it. As far as I was aware (having played around with saving via datatypes & discussing it on Utility Base), AmigaOS 3.x ...

Re: Various smaller bugs
Shouldn't pixels ALWAYS be square these days? I thought the non-square pixel thing was just a Classic Amiga kludge to get higher resolutions without requiring interlace on TVs.

Re: 8 bit screenmodes not always working
@Thomas Frieden But home many out there are using a Radeon HD 4650 card (probably on a PCI-e bus?) with 8-bit screenmodes? Non-Sam460 users probably use a Radeon 9250, and there may not be many Sam460 users yet, even less using 8-bit screenmodes... This made it seem possible that it was a Radeon dri...

Re: SDK evolution
In a window, ReAction gadgets are governed by a special layouting mechanism (which itself is implemented as a gadget, called "layout.gadget"). The layout determines gadget sizes and positions I know someone trying to write a ReAction GUI which does NOT use automatic layout for some stuff,...

Re: Amiga OS 4.1 & FastFileSystem SFS/00
I have a 450GB partition working fine using SFS/02. SFS/00 is more limited about the sizes it can handle.
