Re: StarTech PCI express to PCI adapter works in my X1000
For anyone using these adapters, I would recommend to only use them with the card screwed in to the case by either its own bracket or the low profile bracket included with the (Startech) adapter. Reason being it is only attached to the motherboard via a short PCIe x1 connector which would otherwise ...

Re: StarTech PCI express to PCI adapter works in my X1000
However, the "AddNetInterface" always fails and, thus, the card cannot be used -- weird!. The network card works perfectly in a normal PCI slot. Strange. On changing my network card from PCI to use the adapter, once I put the adapter in a compatible PCIe slot, I had to perform no software...

Re: StarTech PCI express to PCI adapter works in my X1000
Hi After replacing my PCI Express PCI adapter with a new one, I got it to work. Network card started up in the fly and a ping showed that there was a hole through my network to my router. So I began to follow the setup wizard for 2 graphics cards. Everything went fine apart from that my radeon 9250...

Re: OS4.1 classic not booting after installation
Also you should double check that you have the appropriate filesystem in the RDB of the hard drive (check version and DosType for FFS with OS4.1 Media Toolbox when you boot off floppy and CD).

Re: Understanding and Optimization of OS 4.1 for Classics
danbeaver, that is a timely reminder to tape up also all of those free Molex connectors (or use cable tie equivalents). The SCSI cable does carry some voltage on one of the pins for termination power, but it can also cause a short (however unlikely as pins are so short) anywhere inside the case. I n...

Re: Can not write RDB to disk - error message in Media Toolb
Thanks, so you did; seems like there are some situations where Media Toolbox cannot correct a problem (or different setup) with the RDB and OS3.1 HDToolBox can somehow "reset" the RDB. I didn't see any obvious problems with your earlier screenshots. Good luck with the other suggestions for...

Re: Can not write RDB to disk - error message in Media Toolb
So for the 3 drives that were fixed up. what were the exact steps you followed? (Given initially you could not fix them using solely Media Toolbox). For your fastest drive if that does not work with ZeroG's suggestion, you might want to look at first artifically slowing down the drive (e.g. no synch...

Re: Can not write RDB to disk - error message in Media Toolb
Interesting Calgor's, I have 2 ex-Mac 9gbs that act "locked" and although they are stored, could just as well be door stops. What more is known about locking hard drives like the XBox? Missed your input for the past few weeks I am lucky to have not had the pleasure of having to deal with ...

@ mbrantley
Good to hear, I didn't try the slot you have yours in nor the x16 slot as my Radeon HD 4770 uses those 2 slots.
Yes there is a PCIe x1 slot inline with the Xorro slot (but the adapter did not work with OS4.1 for me in that slot as described above).

Re: StarTech PCI express to PCI adapter works in my X1000
mbrantley, I also have this Startech adapter and use it for my RTL8139 network card. However, my adapter only seems to work in the PCIe slot next to the Xorro aligned PCIe slot and not (OS4 fails to boot) in the 2 surroundling slots (including the Xorro aligned one) that I tried. Did you have it in ...
