Re: X1000 success with CruxPPC and MintPPC Linux Distros
Darren, thanks. I'll keep a watchful eye out for any development. A 6850 is my main display card in my X1000, but I also still have an older card in the machine feeding a second display. This explains why my Linux installs use the latter and not the former.

Re: X1000 success with CruxPPC and MintPPC Linux Distros
Good rundown of the distros.
Hey, did we ever decide any of these Linux distros work with the Radeon HD 6850 card now? I wasn't sure and got more than a little distracted with AmigaOS.
I have the very same card you do, Trevor. I love that it takes up only 1 slot. Hope Linux likes it.

Re: Printer for the X1000
Here's lpr.device on the Depot... http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=utility/print/lpr_dev.lha I have a black-and-white laser printer that's on the network and supports Postscript printing from my OS4 machines. Output from Final Writer is great. The printer is a Brother HL-5370...

Re: StarTech PCI express to PCI adapter works in my X1000
musa, I am so sorry you are having trouble. Yes, I rebooted after installing the adapter with the ethernet card in it and changed no settings whatsoever. I was simply online as if I had not moved the ethernet card at all. The adapter is in the 1X PCIe slot closest to the CPU. I have not tried it in ...

Re: StarTech PCI express to PCI adapter works in my X1000
Hey, David.... still happy to confab with you on this stuff via Skype whenever you are ready. I may pull out the Catweasel and do some more testing with the 9250 video card in its place. I don't play games at all, so my only interest in 3D support at the present is for Blender. And early testing in ...

Re: StarTech PCI express to PCI adapter works in my X1000
calgor, Glad you found success! I also have my Catweasel working (with SID chips) in my X1000 now, with a 3.5" floppy. I have my StarTech adapter in the upper PCIe 1X slot (closest to CPU) and that is the only one I tried it in. It worked straight away on first bootup afterward, so no futher fi...

StarTech PCI express to PCI adapter works in my X1000
I bought a StarTech PCI Express to PCI adapter from Amazon and I'm happy to report it works well in my X1000. I am using it for the small PCI ethernet card (large PCI cards won't work with this adapter probably just because of their size), and the ethernet card is totally functional with no addition...

Re: Radeon HD 6850 in X1000
Try creating a copy of the PCIGraphics monitor file called PCIGraphics2. However, this time don't change the BOARDNAME or CMPLENGTH. You can also try just double-clicking on the PCIGraphics monitor after Workbench has loaded. Finally got around to trying this and it didn't work. The 9250 and the 68...
