Re: Questions about new linux kernel and SafeOff
Waiting to test/use this with my 6850 card. Hopefully will be able to report how I made out soon.

Re: Monitors tab in screenmode prefs greyed out.
My monitor driver for my 6850 is called simply "Radeon HD 6" because I followed the naming convention used in the multi-display tutorial from Trevor and Hans. Seems to work. At one time I tried installing both my 6850 cards but that didn't work at all. It only seems to work when I install ...

Re: Insufficient memory CFE error on some cold boots
I am happy to report that I've been spending a lot of time on my X1000 today and it is far more stable now than it was for a period of weeks. I haven't seen that CFE error again but part of that could be that I have not had to restart as often as I have had to do because of the frequent lockups I wa...

Re: Insufficient memory CFE error on some cold boots
Thanks, Trevor and Sundown. I've also heard from another X1000 owner who has mentioned the CFE thing has happened from time to time. So I won't worry too much about it now. I've not tried clearing it by pulling the plug, so that is something I will do next time. I will say I was alarmed by how hot t...

Re: Insufficient memory CFE error on some cold boots
A heat thing? Is 54 degrees a lot? I have two RadeonHD cards installed, so they by far are generating more heat than anything else in the case. I noticed the PowerColor 6850 single-slot card I have is very hot to the touch when running. The back plate for the slot below the 6850 was searing hot to t...

Insufficient memory CFE error on some cold boots
This problem has been worrying me for weeks now. Every once in a while, a cold boot will halt with the following white text on a black background: Loader:elf Filesys:amigafs Dev:ide0.0 File:amigaboot.of Options:(null) Loading: Failed. Could not load ide0.0:amigaboot.of: Insufficient memory *** comma...

Re: Monitors tab in screenmode prefs greyed out.
When I first got my X1000 with only a 4850 the monitors tab was greyed out for me as well. That caused me a lot of stress but eventually I got it to not be greyed out. I just can't remember how! I'll try to recall while hoping someone else will respond with the answer in the meantime. I really need ...

Re: Radeon HD 6850 in X1000
This happened to me before. I will try to remember what I had to do to get the tab to not be greyed out. That caused me some frustration so you would think I would either remember the solution or write it down!

Re: X1000 success with CruxPPC and MintPPC Linux Distros
Just to keep you in the loop, this is being posted from Mint running on a HD6450 card, still a lot of things to sort out but work is progressing. Debian Squeeze may not be useable with a HD6850, I'll keep trying to fix it, but you may be stuck with Wheezy, Mint and Ubuntu. Thanks for the update! I ...
