Re: no sound running Hollywood examples with onboard sound??
I am not familiar enough with Linux sound software and drivers to make a comparison. I do not have a sound card in my X1000. I just verified that in LDW that sound from mplayer and other apps are controllable from a "speaker icon" on the screen top bar. (And separately controllable with *...

stopping window focus causing "on top"
In Linux Debian Wheezy which uses Gnome I want to stop the Left Mouse Click in a window causing that window from coming to the top. Anybody know how to do that? AmigaOS4 has that preference feature. In CDE (common desktop environment) for Solaris there is a preference for whether one wants the windo...

Re: no sound running Hollywood examples with onboard sound??
Does this also mean that development is complete? I was hoping for a volume control that was effective while a program that was using the onboard audio was running. I have found that I can run a sound program, note its volume, quit the program adjust the volume in preferences, run the program again...

Re: DvPlayer to play movie DVDs?
@Raziel I looked. The AUDIO_TS was empty. The VIDEO_TS file types are BUP, IFO, and VOB. Mostly, I am just getting an easy education about what to look out for when offered a DVD video. @ChrisH I looked at the website months ago. Being a little smarter, I go look again... for subtitle support detail...

Re: Debian time for Chicago Fights AmigaOS4 time
On x86 systems IRQ 8 is used by the rtc chip alarm to bring the system back on at a predefined time. You can see all of that on the Linux side with "cat /proc/drivers/rtc". I now have a plan which was seems to be straight forward. I took the longest time to narrow down authoritative refer...

Re: Debian time for Chicago Fights AmigaOS4 time
I did find that one. Note that it says at the top OBSOLETE. It means that. And I could not (have not yet) found what was supposed to supercede it. Doesn't hurt to try though. The file and variable are still available on my Ubuntu 12.04 LTS system at least. I'm getting closer! I wish I had more time...

//SNIP// The mixer is used to control the summing of various hardware audio channels. HDAudio does not support summing of audio channels, and will not be supported by the mixer. //SNIP// Does this also mean that development is complete? I was hoping for a volume control that was effective while a p...

Re: DvPlayer to play movie DVDs?
Before I go bothering the author with my ignorance about the state of computer playing of DVD movies (I played a grand total of 3) I tried and failed to play an old movie my son provided (he bought at Half-Price Books) titled "The God of Cookery" a 1996 production. I tried to get subtitles...
