Just how specific are these many initrd.gz?
I have been going strictly with Debian Wheezy. I am currently suspicious of my CF card, so I went back to the USB thumb on which I have Kernal 3.12.5, There is no initrd.gz anywhere on usbdisk0:, so I have to get one from somwhere. ===== Question 1 of 2 ======== I *think* it /does/ matter which one ...

Re: buying 2nd GigaByte
Well. OK. I'm going with a duplicate of the 1 Gig memory. I had AmiKit decide for me what was required. I had to insist (and cited Trevor's suggestion to me to let them do that) and THEN (only then I thinik) they read the whole of my emails. We settled on 4 gigabytes housed in 2 "Crucial"...

Re: Do I have the latest "<whatever>"?
You can check the log. xx-snip-xx These answer most of the above, except for where software will install (if you don't already have a version installed). For that, you could let AmiUpdate fetch the archive without installing it (remove the checkmark on the top of the third tab page in the prefs, or...

Do I have the latest "<whatever>"?
Lately, some posts have been lax about requirements for software mentioned. Those particular ones say words like "the latest <whatever> is required". I am content to let AmiUpdate keep me up to date. So. 1) How do I know if a particular piece of software has AmiUpdate support? 2) Is there ...

Re: Confused with all the Kernel options
Maybe because of the "F" I had to type in to do it, I flunked! I thought I proofread very carefully, but still ended up with "-fatsf" for the nth time. I must think that is a new sile fystem or something. @kilaueabart I'm with you. Its my "touch key typing" that I am t...

Re: What could I have done wrong with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS?
Groan. I finally gave up on getting a functioning Linux on my X1000 after multiple tries since last July. No one suggested I check/add memory. I have 1 Gig. [It is what Ranger reports.] One thousand megabytes is not enough to run Linux? I'm astonished. Too spoiled by AmigaOS, I guess. I was waiting ...

Re: x1000 CFE small beginners problems
From "X1000_CFE.pdf" page 4, which will be found in System:Documentation/ once you get OS4 installed: "This configuration presumes your X1000 has the standard drive configuration (hard drive on SATA port 0 and optical drive on SATA port 2), and has the "amigaboot.of" bootlo...

Re: Where can I find information about the Live Ubuntu Remix
Ah ha! So you admit the existence of such a DVD... Now how about the box? Might as well ask about if there will be any print on the box... and if it will be in color. Alas, a nephew has come forward implying a desire for $500 lest his car be repossesed... out of work... no job in sight... that sort...
