Re: Computer died

I'll give some thought to replacing the power supply, but I'm skeptical. Maybe the rescue flash was already corrupt and sending a wrong signal? Has you got any further with this? It looks like it is looping in the RAM detection, from your description. But CFE is alive which is a good sign your comp...

Re: Is DDing a Linux possible from AmigaOS?

I see your point. RawWrite needs to use a DOS device. Specifying the device and unit would allow you to bypass this. However, I have been able to use it with raw images, when I used OS4 to write a USB/ISO hybrid image to a USB stick. So it is possible to write a raw image with OS4. It may need a qui...

Re: Kernel 4.20/5.0

Hi All, Linus Torvalds has released the RC1 of kernel 4.20 I'd like to test it, thanks, but I see no ramdisk included. So on my system it will kernel panic without root. Or is the ramdisk somehow embedded in the kernel? Also, why are the X1000 kernels so large? I see it is a raw elf image and not c...

Re: Kernel 4.20/5.0

As shown on x1000 Debian 12 CD, CFE can boot a batch file pointing to kernel files on DVD as well as Debian installs support CFE quite nice. And also, as eluded to by the OS4 bootloader, CFE exposes some kind of OpenFirmware interface. So this should help somewhat since yaboot, the common OF bootlo...

Re: How to use CFE dir command on a partition?

Maybe I've misunderstood what you are saying but FAT flash drives work for me. I think you understand fine. The steps you followed is also what I have tried. But when I tested it CFE it would freeze after printing this message about USB being connected. This would be in my front USB ports of my cas...

Re: How to use CFE dir command on a partition?

What benefit would you expect from that? Just loading amigaboot is hardly the bottleneck of booting, even if it has to happen from FFS. I think what Vox means is not things like loading amigaboot, but all file systems supported. CFE is said to support Ext2, but as per my tests above, I can't get it...

Re: How to use CFE dir command on a partition?

And that is exact reason why it needs an update >:-) According to the guide this is the complete list. We have "amigafs" (AmigaOS FFS2), "ext2", "fat", or "iso" (ISO9660). Seems I couldn't get ext2 to work according to the above. But CFE is strange where it can load from. As I have never been able ...

Re: Is there a way to exit the User-Startup script?

I also could do it with a Lab and Skip, yes, but I was wondering if there was a way to do it without a work around. In all the years I've used AmigaOS I don't ever recall coming across this problem. So just thought I'd ask. :)

Re: Hard drive format

Steff I mean in the Amiga early startup menu where you can pick what AmigaDOS volume to boot from and other stuff. It should come up when you hold down both mouse buttons. Or press scroll lock for Help. There is a bug where it ignores the mouse buttons. And because of my keyboard (Mac) I can't press...
