Re: 4.1 fe long boot process
The "long boot process problem" is finally solved. I bought a Manhattan sil3512 card. Unlike the Syba card, the Manhattan worked with no problems whatsoever. I now boot fast.

Re: Single slot graphics cards?
A riser card like that is just an extension cable so I am sure that the problem is a loose connection or incorrect uboot setting. I have no problems with the new Uboot and my PCIE riser . I checked the connections from the riser to PCI and riser to 3114 card. I tried unplugging and plugging the ris...

Re: Single slot graphics cards?
Good day, For a few years, I used a PCI riser card like the one mentioned above, with my dual slot HD 4850. Recently, I ditched the riser card in favor of a Thermalright HR-03 GT wrap around cooler for my graphics card. It keeps the card very cool and opens up the PCI slot. I recently used my PCI r...

Re: 4.1 fe long boot process
Indeed that is a PC luxury. Yet, I have a dusty old PC with which I can do things like flashing a BIOS. With that said, I put the 3114 in that dusty PC and found that I have the correct type of BIOS and a fairly recent version. I guess the long wait is normal for UBoot and a 3114? As I've said, afte...

Re: 4.1 fe long boot process
I'd like to check one more thing concerning the long SATA initialization process during UBoot. While researching the SIL 3114, I noticed various people had problems depending on what BIOS the card was using (SATALink, RAID0, RAID5, etc.). What BIOS would work best with the UBoot driver and the Amiga...

Re: 4.1 fe long boot process
The company that sold me the 3512 said that they had tested it and found it to be in working order. I did some more research on the web. After reading that the 3512 had problems with Seagate drives, I decided to try the 3512 without my Amiga HD (a Western Digital HD mind you) attached. I put the HD ...

Re: 4.1 fe long boot process
Good day Steady, I have tried various configurations of nvsetvar sii3114ide_conf. No matter how I've set it, or to what ports I 've attached the drives, I've had timeouts. I'm getting somewhat used to it now. It may take a long time to get past the UBoot screen, but my disk speed is blazing fast onc...

Re: 4.1 fe long boot process
I received my sii3512 card today. After putting the card in, I set the UBoot boot devices to 3X12 DVD and 3x12 HD. I exited to a prompt and deleted the sii3114ide stuff using setenv/saveenv. I then tried to boot. I had no timeouts. Yehaw! It screamed through the kickstart kmods. Yehaw! Then it hange...

Re: 4.1 fe long boot process
I am guessing that ports 0 and 1 are primary masters and ports 2 and 3 are slaves. With SATA, there are no masters or slaves, all disks are equal. Best regards, Niels Well, Niels, that is what I would have thought. Yet, having read the documentation (SYS:Documentation/IDE/sii3114ide_dev.doc)... - s...
