Re: What could I have done wrong with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS?
... After quite a long time, the boot process seemed to reach an end. Three lines at the top of the screen, I think, one telling me I could type something to get a list of commands. The bottom line read "(initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system." The keyboard had ...

Re: Running OS4 on a 1080p monitor
Thank you all for the clarification and encouragement. My card is the one that came with the machine; Ranger says it is a Radeon HD 5450, and I expect it to work beautifully.

What could I have done wrong with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS?
I was delighted to get my dvd in this afternoon's mail, and tried it out immediately. After quite a long time, the boot process seemed to reach an end. Three lines at the top of the screen, I think, one telling me I could type something to get a list of commands. The bottom line read "(initramf...

Running OS4 on a 1080p monitor
My monitor has been making some strange noises lately, so I have been looking to see where I might find an emergency replacement. At a warehouse store today I had an impulse to buy a wide screen monitor on special, but just in time it occurred to me that the X1000's graphics card wouldn't support it...

Re: Installing Linux under X1000 for the first time
... The Installation is very nice written in the LinuxInstallation.pdf came with your X1000. ... Perhaps only true if one ordered Linux with the X1000 order? I certainly got no such PDF, and am having difficulty finding such instructions, also reportedly in the Hyperion-Entertainment Downloads. Rea...

Re: A couple of AmiUpdate problems?
@Raziel Thanks. Sorry I'm so dense, but that's only gonna get worse. In any event, it's fixed. One of those things listed in the main Rollback window as 2013-07-08 was 7-8-2013 in System/AmiUpdate/RollBack. I changed it to 2013-08-07, thinking to avoid a conflict. I may find out later if that means ...

Re: A couple of AmiUpdate problems?
I was very pleased to get your instructions. It sounded like an easy fix. But I guess I am not smart enough to follow them. When I start System Rollback, a window opens with RollBack dates in a column in a sub-window on the left: 2013-10-07 2013-07-16 2013-07-08 2013-07-08 2012-12-06 When I click on...

A couple of AmiUpdate problems?
Whenever I select "Update software..." from the Workbench menu, it tells me my date format is old, and I should let it convert to YYYY-MM-DD format. I click Continue and wait awhile, then click the icon that has appeared in my Dock. Now what! I am asked for my AmiUpdate user name and passw...

I'm glad "kilaueabart" is an alias!
Will I ever learn to check "Information... > Icon" before I ask dumb questions?

cybppc.device
When I open Media Toolbox, I get this alert: "Couldn't use cybppc.device because there are no units attached."
I never saw such a message until I got the X1000, my third non-Classic, but when I google, it looks like a classic Amiga matter. Should I be concerned, or just annoyed?
