I think it's the hard drive from the sam, we had that problem here too.
I used a new clean drive in it's place to prove the issue and learned (remembered) the two mouse early startup tip!

Okay then.. reburn the cd (it's a cheap test) and Is the cd drive attached to the internal sata port one (while the hard drive is attached to internal sata port zero) Can you put the hard drive back in the sam, and just format dho, it might be trying to boot from the hard drive Hold down the the two...

As the machine comes up to the boot menu...it seems fine (since you supplied almost all of the components, it could have been anyone of those items) BUT...What cd are you using? you state 4.1 BUT is it the os4.1FE for the x5000? I can boot my machine just by leaving the correct cd in the drive and j...

I found and bought a SIGG ultraATA 133 pci. It works great.

AmigaKit also sells a sata card that is compatible.

I never tried any form of *inx on the amiga, but all this talk of new kernels on the x1000 made me want to ask:

What are the current versions of *inx (if any) for the xe-g4?

I also am just learning about the questions you pose...and I read the docs in the Documention/ide/sii680ide, check it out!

So, yes setenv will change the ide "timeout"

But, after I installed my sii interface, I had no errors. So I can't speak to those issues.

I don't know, never heard of that type of card being tried.
Maybe someone else can jump in with more info

I do know that the SIIG ATA133 card works!
