Re: Yam2.9p1 OS4 and gmail
Anyone else using Yam with gmail? I finally got it working, and enabled pop for all mail in my gmail settings, then started Yam and started downloading my mail, but it crashes after a short while. I have used YAM 2.7 (both OS 4.1 and 3.x versions) succesfully with gmail. Later stable versions, incl...

Re: Printer Spooler
I vaguely recall writing one when I was messing around trying to get Dot4 working. Here it is: http://www.unsatisfactorysoftware.co.uk/download.php?file=dot4spool It isn't immediately obvious, but I think (after re-reading my readme several times) that using only the DEVICE tooltype should make it ...

Re: Printer Spooler
Where do you connect your printer? It is irrelevant here where the printer is physically connected if the spooler does not 'catch' any output from programs... As I said I tested also with the 'native' parallel port (= parallel.device) chosen, and it did not change anything. With OS4 upd 6 (why not ...

Re: Printer Spooler
PrintManager by Stephan Rupprecht has a built-in spooler, lightweight too... This is one of the programs I have already tested... It does not work, at least with OS 4.1.6 classic! Either the program or the installation script is broken. The script installed automatically 'PrintManager.os4' into the...

Printer Spooler
Is there any native printer spooler program available for OS 4.1 yet? So far all the 68xxx spoolers I have tested have failed, in one way or another. Under OS 3.x I have used a very small, easy-to-use, commodity type of spooler program, which has been 100% solid and works also perfectly with PageStr...

MediaToolbox: copy/paste partitions
Would it be difficult to add into MediaToolbox a possibility to copy and paste partitions, both within a disk and between different disks?
This feature is present in GParted (Linux) and I have found it very useful. It is a fast and reliable way to reorganize disks.
Regards,
Gregor

Re: YAM update problem
It's probably the out of date SSL support that causes that problem. It's the same issue that will prevent YAM, SimpleMail etc. from working with many mail providers including GMail. YAM 2.7 works ok with Gmail. I Had to downgrade from 2.9p1 due to this SSL problem... Also the latest Beta is said to...

Re: SSD hard disks and AmigaOS
Automatic trim can only work in conjunction with wear-levelling. And wear-levelling only works if there is enough unused space on the disk. This means: - leave some space without partitions - never format a partition. Only use quick-format Change geometry so that one cylinder is 1 MB (2048 blocks)....

SSD hard disks and AmigaOS
Is there somewehere a FAQ concerning the use of SSDs with AmigaOS 4.1? If not, here are some questions... 1. AmigaOS does not have TRIM support and probably never will as discussed here earlier. Thus, is there any sense of using SSDs in their current state with AmigaOS...? 2. How to choose a drive w...

Re: Internet prefs
It doesn't save anything on my system because I keep my system partition write-protected (locked) but you can check the date of settings files to see if any settings were changed on your system. Yes, that is probably the most effective way... I used regularly partition locking in the early times of...
