Re: X1000 Linux install

I booted from the ubuntu DVD but have some questions before proceeding to the install. There are 2 install icons on the ubuntu desktop: 1. Install Ubuntu MATE with the alternative script. 2. Install Ubuntu MATE 16.04.1. Why and when would I want to use the alternative script? Does the installer need...

Re: X1000 Linux install

You could try out our ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS PowerPC live DVD: Link . If you like the DVD, then you can install it on your X1000 and after that update it to the latest version 16.04.5. It took quite a while to D/L the iso on my slow Internet connection but I D/L it and burned it to a DVD. I'm assumi...

X1000 Linux install SOLVED

Last November I D/L a Linux install for X5000 from a USB stick. I got the install files from the "Spectre660's Linux downloads for the X5000" and some help. I've been able to use FireFox on my X5000. I recently switched back to my X1000 (X5000 is in the closet) and would like to install Li...

Re: ASyncWB tooltypes

ASyncWB i far more than "a drag & drop file copying commodity". It's a WB patch with several enhancements, including the optional history discussed here. Now I see the connection between ASyncWB and the history. ASyncWB is also patching the Workbench "Execute Command..." pop...

Re: ASyncWB tooltypes

That's because the user perforiming the testing is not taking inot account the way that the Execute Command popup works. Each time you use it adds to the command line being created, it doesn't replace it (whether or not ASyncWB is in force) and so enables you to build an entire command line with bo...

Re: ASyncWB tooltypes

NOHISTORY switches off the Execute Command history. It seems strange that the icon of a drag & drop file copying commodity would control a completely unrelated Workbench menu for starting programs; especially since ASyncWB wasn't even added to the OS until OS3.5. Testing indicates it's true and...

Re: ASyncWB tooltypes

There is unfortunately no info on the wiki and on the documentation, so can anyone tell me what the NOHISTORY switch does? I can't even find any ASyncWB docs in my old OS3.5/OS3.9 CDs. However, if you examine ASyncWB in a HEX editor or reader, you should find the text: "ENVARC:Sys/AsyncWB.hist...

Re: HDMI -> VGA adapter

@Roland Just in case you are still interested, I received my " 2-Port USB 2.0 Rear Panel Bracket Host Adapter" which I bought from Amazon for $4 & change with free postage. I cut the motherboard USB connector from the end of the adapter cable and connected the USB power/ground wires to...

Re: HDMI -> VGA adapter

You are right... I would not like to have an extra power adapter. Would it be possible to take the needed current directly from the power supply of X5000? Are there any simple adapters available for that? A USB 3.0 card would be the second best solution, but it should be a PCIe card as my PCI slots...

Re: HDMI -> VGA adapter

Unfortunately the adapter has only USB for power input. So, that wasn't as good idea as I thought... Could you get a USB power adapter and plug into mains? That would probably work but his adapter would be on all the time or he would need to plug in the power adapter before he boots and unplug it w...
