Re: Kernel 5.10
... I did ask some of you to try a slightly different kernel: see here: https://forum.hyperion-entertainment.com/viewtopic.php?p=51504#p51504 Not had any reports yet.. Sorry... I had already forgotten that when I finally get back to my X5000. But now I tested it, and there was no change... Onboard ...

Re: Fienix - New PowerPC Distro
Fienix cannot use a simple preseed file like MintPPC does, because Fienix does not use the Debian repository and our repository structure does not match Debian's. Does anyone have any experience with Debian installer who might be able to help out? Have you tried to contact Spectre...? He has not be...

Re: MintPPC
I have been playing around with MintPPC32 a bit, pretty good although some important apps are still missing as yet, eg Thunderbird, GIMP, Blender etc. Also, once I did some apt updates and upgrades I ended up with a broken system, needing a reinstall., this seems to be a hybrid Unstable/Stable inst...

Re: MintPPC
Up and running, only had to add my xorg.conf and to rename libglamoregl (I have 2 cards installed), so far everything is working well, actually feels quite snappy. Is this based on Debian 64PPC? Glad to hear it works! What do you have in your xorg.conf? I did not have to add that... Yes, it indeed ...

Re: MintPPC
Hi, Christian! Glad to hear it worked also for you :-). Thank you for 'hosting' it on you site! For those using VLC I would like to add that the non-altivec VLC package can be found in the /home/mintppc/downloads. The main components of it are already installed, but If you happened to need some addi...

Re: MintPPC
What is app availability like for Mint? I would be interested in trying. It is Debian based, so in principle it should be good... If you know what applications you would need, I can check whether they are in the depot. In www-browsers the situation is similar to Fienix, the 'Wicknix' ones are worki...

Re: MintPPC
I could also put available a customized MIntPPC partition image, after I have polished it - if there is interest? That would be great! The only problem now is that I do not myself have any public storage place for it, and Jeroen said his site has not enough free space. Would it be possible to uploa...

Re: MintPPC
Now the VLC is working with X5000 in MintPPC! Jeroen Diederen (the author of MintPPC) kindly compiled a special non-altivec version of VLC 3.0.11.1 :-). Here is a link to the package: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lgPdQOalpups4ixW2z3d5swOqi6ACok-/view?usp=sharing I could also put available a cust...

Re: MintPPC
MintPPC 32-bit: I got New Moon (preinstalled), Spiderweb and Faded Orb (these had to be installed manually from the .deb archives) to work! They had a common problem... They all need '/lib/powerpc-linux-gnu/libffi.so.6' to work, but Mint has only the newer 'libffi.so.7'. I made a copy of it and rena...
