Re: Kernel 4.10
Thank you for making kernel update available. Could you provide instruction or give me a link to instructions on how to "install" the kernel update?

Re: (X)(L)ubuntu (MATE) 17.04 Zesty Zapus
I had ubuntu MATE running nicely on my X5000 from the SATA SSD. I tried to test an update on a USB first but I don't think I had enough freespace. Attempted to update to 16.10. Followed instructions posted here . After "apt-get dist-upgrade" the upgrade proceeded, but a few times during th...

I don't think this method gives the new user sudo permissions. Yes, that's correct but it is very easy to add your user to the sudo group. :-) Excellent! I agree that this method is likely easier for most people. I'm still not totally familiar with MATE; before now I almost exclusively used KDE.

Re: My experiences with ubuntu MATE 16.04.1 LTS Live USB
Hi guys, First thanks for the work you do. I know its all volunteer. I have spent a week off and on now trying to make a decent working installation on my X5000. I am not Linux expert but been developing for a long time. I just screwed something up that has forced me back to reinstall as I try to m...

Please look here: X1000 thread This thread is also concerned to the X5000. I can apparently only post in the X5000 board... Anyways, regarding: "Phoronix wrote: With Debian Stretch dropping 32-bit PowerPC as a release architecture, Ubuntu is following a similar maneuver and will not be making ...

Re: ubuntu MATE 16.04.1 LTS Live USB
This is due to the way the P5020 (and possibly the P5040 I don't know) map memory. They map all the ram in a single block starting a 0x00000000 and anding at <RAM-SIZE> If you have more than 3568 M of Ram you will have RAM with physical addresses of 0xdf000000 - 0xffffffff Interesting, thanks for s...

Also, does this correspond to the physical memory in the system? Can it be edited to reflect the actual physical memory present?xeno74 wrote:Please try it with mem=3500M.

Re: ubuntu MATE 16.04.1 LTS Live USB
Do you use a MBR/msdos partition table? You can find out it with GParted. Please start GParted and select View - Device Information Thanks for your reply! Yes, MBR/msdos. I do not have AOS installed right now; I'd rather focus on Linux first. Could you please try to load the kernel from the USB fla...
