File requesters need overhauling

So much to say about the current state of file requesters. 1. Add a toolbar with all the options that are currently hiding away in the menus. 2. Remove the right-click devices to a sidebar with icons representative of the device type. 3. Hide the system assignments, by this I mean S:, C:, Libs: etc....

Reboot and Power Off

Whats the official situation on command line means to Reboot or Power Down any* AmigaOS machine?

Why are some going to the effort of writing tools like Poff?

If there is a catch all way to do either of these please point me how to do this.

Thank you.

Exchange in WBStartup

In a default AmigaOS installation, the program Exchange (in Commodities) should be set to run automatically on opening the Workbench, consequently the icon should be set up to CX_POPUP = NO.

Re: Expand AISS to a complete set

There are many more important things to be concentrating on. I use SFS as my system partition as recommended and here is my experience. I am currently trying to pinpoint why Jack takes 8 seconds to open from a fresh boot - previously 14 seconds I've managed to optimize a little. Then I moved to AISS...

Re: Expand AISS to a complete set

I see no benefit in reducing the AISS, if anything just the reverse, just keep the OS on par with the latest release of AISS at all times and be done with it. AISS is of enormous benefit to me, 4000+ files is no big deal, they are only loaded when requested so no noticeable slowdown... as for floppi...

Standard Drawer Structure for Files

Hello, Every other OS now has Standard Drawers for End-Users to save their common media files, e.g. Documents, Downloads, Applications (sure not as essential), Music and Videos and excuse my french, but its about bloody time AmigaOS did the same for the sake of not only End-Users, but developers ali...

Re: Tray icons in Workbench menu

Hi Mason,

Maybe this is possible, but I personally want to see AmigaOS move away from 'tinkering' solutions to things that are supported as-standard from the ground-up - as I can imagine a lot of 'us' do.

PS. Mason, you have me thinking of a new feature request.

Re: Icons in Menus

After such an interesting read I am ashamed to reply with a simple Yes, but there you go. Yes, Icons in Menus (and elsewhere) would be fantastic, but I am asking at an OS-level, what we don't need is another toolkit or library, but features that come as-standard as opposed to being bolted on through...

Tray icons in Workbench menu

Hello, I believe they are called Tray icons, how about giving the opportunity for developers to add a Tray icon into the Workbench menu itself on the right-hand side to the left of the 'switch screen if possible' icon? Here are some obvious ones which could come as standard for a future AmigaOS. Lap...
