Re: Pivot monitor support on driver level?

I've recently been learing about EDID, the protocol used for communication between monitor and graphics device driver. Unfortunately, nowhere in the published spec (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EDID) is monitor orientation mentioned. So I'm afraid that there appears to be no (standard) way for ...

Re: How doe AmigaOS 4.x handle PC-Style keyboard mapping?

Take a look at the file SYS:Documentation/keyboards.doc.

Does that answer your questions?

Re: CFS/00 filesystem not recognized by OS4.1 FE

Yes, quite right. I meant that you can't use 68K FS "from the RDB" under OS4. As Andy says, you can copy them to L/ and run them from there.

Re: CFS/00 filesystem not recognized by OS4.1 FE

The fact that your old disk has a file system handler in its RDB is not helpful, as it is 68K and all RDB file systems are ignored. 68K file systems can not be used under OS4. I have never heard of "CFS". Why do you say it's the same as SFS? SFS' DOSType should be SFS\0, SFS\2, SFS\3, etc....

Re: Background colour of text under icon

I think you mean "2011" in the date of the Prefs/Font command. There has not been any update of it since 2011. I'm pretty sure that changes to the ASL requester can't have this effect. I wonder if it's something caused by CANDI? Can you insert the original CD, then open the System/Prefs dr...

Re: Background colour of text under icon

Is that what you get when you click on the "Ff" button on the line "Workbench icon font" ? If so, then the font prefs has been replaced by something else. I don't have anything like the "Font family" you show and I'm sure Niels hasn't either. It's a furphy. My (our) fon...

Re: Background colour of text under icon

Open the Prefs drawer, then "Font". Click on the "Workbench Icon Font" at the bottom of the page. Now you have a wide window labelled "Select Workbench desktop icon font". You can select the style of the text under the icon (Text, Text + outline, etc). You can also sele...

Re: What revision of motherboard in X5000 you have?

Don't confuse the versions of U-Boot and "amigaboot". The SD card holds an image containing U-Boot, amigaboot, the boot animation code, the default ENV variables, etc. Each of those components can be independently updated. There are several versions of U-Boot around for X-5000s and I'm not...

Re: AmigaOS only boots from install DVD

Yeah, that version is now four years old. I don't know what is being delivered with X-5000s these days, but my X-5040 had amigaboot V53.21 when delivered. I'm currently trying to get V53.27 ready for release.

Perhaps AmigaKit can give you a later SD card image?

Re: AmigaOS only boots from install DVD

That's because you let it run by itself. I want you to do the steps by hand, as I listed them. When you type "boota", the first thing you will see is the heading at top of a clean new screen, then a list of bootable volumes (may be only one), and an arrow at the far left side, indicating w...
