Re: Are extenal drves compatible with AmigaOS?

OS4 does not support NTFS yet. It's one of those big jobs that no one wants to take on.

It would probably take a year or more to get something going, and, being Microsoft, it's a moving feast, the API is continually changing and never fully documented.

Re: Why is Mode xxx is not supported at the given frequency

According to that printout, the computer could not talk to the monitor at all. It's using a default scan resolution and scan rate - 1024x768? So first task is to find what has happened - is it Update 3 or is it hardware monitor/cable/adaptor/graphics? Can you boot an older system installation withou...

Re: FAT32 and clusters

I think you can assume that CrossDOS only supports the standard cluster size. It is unlikely to be expanded.

Yes, you're right. I'll write a report about it.

Thanks for pointing it out.

Re: Update 3 - No new con-handler?

It wasn't sufficiently mature to be released with the original 4.1, and as Steven says, the Updates since then have been bug fixes, not new releases.
The new con-handler/console are (like everything else) still being developed, and have always been intended for release with OS 4.2.

Re: Update 3 Install - failed to load LIBPYTHON25.SO

That's not the point. The installation has been designed and tested using UnArc. Don't go "trying" other means and then wailing for help if it doesn't work. We know what DOES work, so use that in the first instance. If you want to experiment, you can do that later to your heart's content. ...

Re: DDC not working (screen blanking)

The max and min scan rates only apply to the driver software. If you specify a vert scan rate of 56-60 Hz, it won't generate a refresh rate outside that range. Any supported scan rates from the DDC response that lie outside those limits will not be generated or seen in the screenmode list. I looked ...

Re: DCC not working (screen blanking)

Do you have a serial cable? Can you report what happens at boot time? There should be a lot of debug information spat out, reporting what the monitor replied when interrogated. That information should include all the supported screenmodes, max and min scan frequencies, etc. Without it, the DDC isn't...

Re: Update 3 Install - failed to load LIBPYTHON25.SO

If the file is missing, it can only be because of a bad download or faulty installation. The file is definitely included in the install archive (you can see it when you open the archive with UnArc).

Use only UnArc to open the archive (don't go using known buggy apps like DOpus).
