Maybe the Xorg issue is related to the DMA part they added so maybe it stems from a config value with DMA.
Another thing about Xorg can be the recent upgrade to systemd 231 which nearly destroyed my installation and with luck and chroot I was able to downgrade.

You can also try the modesetting driver instead of fbdev or radeon. I actually did your little trick of renaming glamor and got radeon in xorg.conf to work again. Another thing to notice is that various managers like sddm, lightdm, etc... respond differently to our broken driver situation. Sddm pres...

Re: Mesa for Linux PPC
Upgrading to Mesa 12 nearly destroyed my installation until I managed to switch Xorg to fbdev only.
So if you are running a distro that automatically updates Mesa and you use a SI AMD card (GCN 1.0) either avoid it or switch to fbdev only in the Xorg.conf file before the procedure.

Re: Kernel 4.7
I used the first 2 rc5 kernels with both boot patches and both worked without a noticeable difference.
Just a reminder: there is a possibility of the next kernel having amdgpu for GCN 1.0 without being enabled by default. Maybe you will be able to enable it for us so we can test if it fixes anything.

Re: openSUSE Tumbleweed
Any chance of getting tumbleweed on a compressed archive like the previous OpenSUZE? I tried to upgrade and it ruined my installation.

Everything works here and boots fine except of course the graphics driver on SI GCN 1.0 card.

Re: Mesa for Linux PPC
Well, from what i understand from the Mesa delelopers list, there is only Oded who just recently started working on the driver and said that it is completly broken. The good news from this month is that he managed to fix some basic stuff. The bad news is that we still have a long road and he is just...

Re: Firefox and iceweasel for Linux PPC
It turns out an old version of FF on OpenSuze 64 bit works much better than whatever runs on the various 32 bit Ubuntu-based installations. I don't know if it is the difference in 64/32 bit just that it works as I remember from other platforms.
