Re: QupZilla web browser for Linux PPC

I dunno... for me the Firefox polished platform is a given... and the alternative speed-wise only is NetSurf on AOS. Maybe you can look into special speed-ups of Firefox on X1000 or maybe compile the test version or the alternative Pale Moon. I have a feeling there is a certain unexplained bottlenec...

Re: 10 degrees difference on Radeon HD5870 - AOS and Ubuntu

Case: 43c CPU: 57c Core1: 63c Core 2: 65c The CPU temperature is 14 degrees above the case temperature, which is a bit larger than on Abalaban's machine and mine, but not unexpected with a case temperature of 43. So, your CPU heat sync and fan are indeed working fine. Do you know what the room's te...

Re: 10 degrees difference on Radeon HD5870 - AOS and Ubuntu

Case: 43c

CPU: 57c

Core1: 63c

Core 2: 65c

CPU fan + GPU fan are working consistently.

No more shutdowns. Thanks to all and the matter is resolved.

Re: Lubuntu 14.10 beta 1 is working with the following limit

Weird, I followed the instructions you posted and even moved like you from 14.04 to a beta state 14.10 before updating to the final one. Maybe when fixing Mesa you use the libgl1-mesa-dri_8.0.4-0ubuntu0.7_powerpc.deb file and I use the libgl1-mesa-dri_10.1.3-0ubuntu0.2_powerpc.deb one. I don't thin...

Re: 10 degrees difference on Radeon HD5870 - AOS and Ubuntu

The overall CPU temperature reaches 60 and the cpu+fan are working fine. As I said on Linux it is fine.

What is a failure? to my understanding the CPU can work at 85 degrees so it's not about that. I don't know yet how to test it without the docky so maybe it could get more than 60.

Re: 10 degrees difference on Radeon HD5870 - AOS and Ubuntu

@Srtest Some day I will publish an updated version of the docky that would allow you to disengage the automatic shutdown. IIRC the latest public version should already allow to replace the automatic shutdown by a custom command, just set something like: requestchoice "Temperature warning"...

Re: 10 degrees difference on Radeon HD5870 - AOS and Ubuntu

@Srtest The linux drivers have dynamic power management, but AmigaOS does not. On AmigaOS the graphics card is set to max clock speeds + the voltages required to run at those speeds. So it will use more power even running idle.** While I would definitely like to add dynamic power management, they h...

Of course. I especially want to focus on the second pic as I've forgotten something important: look at what is marked with an arrow in the bottom of the screen it is an important setting in VLC to get the smoothest playback. Normally the default selection gives you lackluster results if you even ca...

10 degrees difference on Radeon HD5870 - AOS and Ubuntu

I've waited till the new Radeon drivers on AOS to post this - ever since I started to use the X1000 with a Sapphire HD5870 gfx card right from the get go I experienced a major overheating in AOS about an average of 57 degrees vs 47-49 on Linux with no major differences (in both os's) stemming from h...

Re: Mesa 9.2.2-1 and 10.0.0-1

UPDATE : since this mesa commit (including previous ones) mesa has better big-endian support . This will be included in Mesa 10.4 . Still to be confirmed if this is enough to fix this problem. Mesa 10.4 isn't released yet: http://www.mesa3d.org/ . I have compiled the development version (git versio...
