Re: How to play DVD Movies on X1000
One thing that surprises me, that while playing a DVD, and I launch say OWB-MUI to browse the net, the video starts playing slow motion or choppy. I have always expected video playback on the Amiga OS to be seemless. As I let the movie play it seems to get back on track but still, stimmys and stops...

Re: What is the state of 3D on the X1000 with the HD4650?
No. It's hardware rendering. I wish that they hadn't used "3D" on that button in the GUI, as all compositing is done by the 2D drivers. It's causing a lot of confusion. Rest assured that the Radeon HD 2D drivers fully support compositing. Hans I saw your press release on the A-Eon mailing...

Re: What is the state of 3D on the X1000 with the HD4650?
Thanks Hans. Yes- the 2D drivers work very well even with the 3D acceleration button checked to allow all of the fade effects - I take it this is a software rendering? No. It's hardware rendering. I wish that they hadn't used "3D" on that button in the GUI, as all compositing is done by t...

Re: What is the state of 3D on the X1000 with the HD4650?
How functional are the drivers for the 4650? I cannot run Blender as I get a MinGL error. I am told I need to run Wazp3D which AFIK is a software CPU implementation of the 3D elements that would normally be provided by the hardware of the Radeon. Is this correct? The 2D drivers work well, as you sh...

Re: Contrasting performance
With update 3 i got exactly the same FPS in general but indeed since update 4 it seems that if i start an application before starting Quake 3 or even ADoom (that don't use Warp3D at all) i got this huge slowdown like somethings still continue to use my CPU (or VRAM?) in background Again, what FPS u...

Re: Contrasting performance
That's strange behaviour. Possibly the slow-down occurs because your VRAM is filled up and fragmented by the other apps that you have run. Why this behaviour would only occur in update 4 is anyone's guess though. The changes to Picasso96API.library are pretty simple, and I wouldn't expect those to c...

Re: Why is Mode xxx is not supported at the given frequency
Correct, rolling back the rtg.library does downgrade the 2D graphics performance. That's because you're discarding all of the performance enhancements provided in update 3.IamSONIC wrote:Anyway replacing the rtg.library with the one from the Update 1 CD seems to 'downgrade' the 2D graphics performance.

Re: Radeon RV710 memory...
No. Some of the Radeon 9xxx cards have the 256 MiB is split between a primary and secondary PCI device instead of leaving it as one block of RAM. That's a totally different problem.Stephen Robinson wrote:Is this the same problem that Radeon 9250 cards have seeing only 128mb of the 256mb of ram?

Re: Radeon RV710 memory...
Is it possible to get AmigaOS 4.1 update 2 to recognize more than 256MB of memory on my 1GB Radeon RV710 (XFX HD 4550 graphics card)? No, it's not. The problem is that only 256 MiB is visible to the CPU over the PCIe/PCI bus; the rest is only accessible by the GPU. Since Picasso96 expects that the ...
