Re: Inaccurate vertical blank timing (VBL)
I am currently programming a simple game for OS4 (non-commercial, just for fun), and are now working on a screen with 2D scrolling. I have no problems making a glitch-free scrolltext, as long as it's far down on the screen. However, if I put my scrolltext on the upper part of the screen (especially...

@djrikki
A linux port already exists. You can download the kernel from the Sam460ex page on ACube's website. I haven't tried it myself (not interested), but they have screenshots of Debian running, so it does work.

Re: Run X1000 front open or closed?
Just curious if you all run your X1000 with front door open or closed? Does the X1000 cool better with door open so fresh air in front and blows out back or does it not really matter? tj If you have a look at the sides around the front door, you'll notice a grille running all the way down the sides...

If your DVD playback is "horribly slow"
I've seen a number of people complaining about slow or "bad" DVD playback on Sam460ex machines; usually, with some muttering about how missing overlay support in the Radeon HD drivers is ruining everything. Well, I strongly recommend that you check if your DVD drive is using DMA. Playback ...

Oh, so that's why DVD playback was horribly slow for you. Glad you've got things working better now.Delta wrote:You guys rock!
I can see my NAS and transfer files, I can watch a DVD without crossing my fingers in hope it won't crash
Thanks!

Re: Kinda disapointed, need to share my views
Got some spare time to restart my system from scratch, installed only the software I knew was working OK. Flushed samba (never been abkle to connect to win7 or my NAS anyways...) Our version of Samba and smbfs is too old to work with Windows 7. They have a new version of the SMB/CIFS protocol which...

Re: Kinda disapointed, need to share my views
Have to fight with config files or hunt for libraries an entire evening just to watch a DVD Hm, I personally wouldn't call downloading two archives and unpacking them to the right place "fighting" - but I'm sorry that you feel this way. which plays horribly slow anyways....no new games wo...

He is French, so he is using the SI term "Octets" == bytes. It isn't one of their renaming attempts that has really caught on... The problem is, if we were to interpret 2.9mo/s strictly in SI units, then that would translate to 2.9 milli-octets per second; the lowercase 'm' prefix signify...

Re: OpenGL Games on my X1000
Hans will have 3D Drivers marked on his list of things to do and if he happens across this thread he may give you an indication to how long you're looking at before this is finalised, of course this aspect is still just one piece of the puzzle. I cannot give any time estimates, sorry. Apart from th...
