Re: Fienix - New PowerPC Distro
Sundown, Please note: Hardware 3D acceleration doesn't work with your XFX R9 270. That means, videos and 3D acceleration (desktop and games) are slower with your graphics card on Fienix. Hardware 3D acceleration works only with RadeonHD 4xxx, 5xxx, and 6xxx graphics cards. Cheers, Christian I'm wel...

Re: Fienix - New PowerPC Distro
usbdisk0.0 doesn't work, all the examples I see just have usbdisk0:
There are 2 partitions on the usb drive, fienix-boot which is fat formatted & FIENIX which is ext2.
Maybe another x1000 user that got a usb disk to boot can post his CFE command.

Re: Fienix - New PowerPC Distro
I bought the new Fienix usb stick hoping it would make for an easy install, but not to be. I get a "usbdisk0:zImage-4.20 "file not found" error. root=/dev/usbdrive, should 'usbdrive' be something else? Also the install instructions say the stick should be in the top left usb port, but...

Re: Linux X1000 newbie
@sundown Thanks for the advice. Are there any sources of how-to-do-that for that particular modification? I'm not an electrician these days :). I've never seen any info on how to remove the battery. Its held in place by the cell holder clip. You need to use both hands to push down on the back of th...

Re: Linux X1000 newbie
Thanks. It works now. I was expecting some kind of install procedure, but I guess I just copy the content to a suitable ext4 partition. If only there was gparted included with the distro ;). One more question: The actual kernel boot from CFE fails almost 9 out of 10 times. Is that standard procedur...

Re: Linux X1000 newbie
@xeno74 Ok, I can max get the kernel to actually boot from CFE every third (1/3) times. That's outrageous! But anyway, I can boot up some initial graphic interface now, except that I am now faced with a login box, that cannot be circumvented. What should I guess for username and password?? :o :shoc...

Re: Linux X1000 newbie
Will Fienix do 3d acceleration out of the box with a Radeon 4850 card, or is there another step to get that working? Looks interesting enough to try, but I've found linux to be to slow to use without 3D. Also wondering if the image file size is a problem on our Amiga systems & need to install wi...
